Dont know if its already been mentioned on here, but Telewest now offer a FREE digital TV, if you take their phone service. If you already have their phone, then theres a one of fee of £25. The best thing about this, you still get sky one.
I downgraded today, from the supreme TV, they never mentioned the one off fee, so will have to wait till my next bill see if ive been charged.

We downgraded too, and they didn't mention the £25 fee (maybe cos we also have broadband?). They did, however, mention our refund would show up on next month's statement, so I hope the £25 fee doesn't show up too !
Still, it's a saving in the long run even if they do implement the charge, as we didn't watch the other cr*p channels that we 'lost' by downgrading, so it was pointless paying for them.... plus we now have Freeview on 2 of our other TVs anyway.
As long as we keep Sky One with the Telewest free package we'll be happy :D .

Not the wisest thing to do. If I was you I'd remove those contact details as the world and his wife can see them.

Also, to remove those contact details from this thread, the people who have quoted the post with the contact details, would also need to edit their posts ;)
  • Hi I just rang sky up as I cannot use the i button on my remote, told the salesperson I would have to buy a new box so may as well go with Freeview, straight away was offered free fix of box, I asked about Sky+ and it was offered to me brand new for £79 then mentioned I'd like it upstairs also, multiroom and was offered it at £49 all fitted and a new digibox upstairs. Didn't have the money in my credit card so refused but said I might ring back next week, think I made a bloomer, had I have haggled a little longer, and not sounded so enthusiastic, might have got it for free..... If any of you have any haggling tips for when I ring back next week, please let me know.... cheers.
  • I have just spent the past two hours on the phone to sky as last month I rang up and got the movies and sports free for six months for just the cost of the entertainment package which we have for £21 per month. Anyway today a direct debit came out for sky for £65!!!!! I rang them up and apparantly the offer hadn't been put on and we have been charged full price for the past month and a half. We we have had a debate with them as they had no record of the phone call.

Anyway finally got them to credit the account with the overpayment, but they have reduced the free months to three so it will run out on boxing day. Not that we are worried as we have only watched one movie and no sports at all, but it is the fact that no one activated the deal even though we were promised it.

    anyway rant over!!!!!

We're on NTL with TV, phone with talk 24 and 4meg broadband - costing £75 a month. We'd managed to get £10 off as a 'loyalty' bonus, but it was still too much at £65, so decided to see if there were better options. My wife hasn't wanted a dish, so Sky was out of the window, but last night I worked out that if I went back to BT and took sky, I could get everything I already had plus up to 16 meg with sky for £41 a month! That's a saving of £24 a month!

Anyway, that was enough to sell it to my wife who agreed and also agreed upgrading the aerial so I can get freeview too. (I would have gone totally freeview if it wasn't for a couple of channels that all the family enjoy..)

However, I thought I'd give NTL a chance to better it, and rang them - I've now got more discounts taking it down to £39.70 for six months so we're staying with them for the time being, but I can use the saving to get the aerial upgraded in the meantime... :)
    Regards

Phoned sky to tell them I am moving house next week, jsut out of year contract, they said no problem they would reinstall it in new hosue for £49 (or something close to that!!) I said no thank you, ntl are putting in broadband + phone for free, the lady said that was the cost, nothing she could do.

I asked for cancellations, got through and was told no problem, I could ahve it all done for free :D

Just shows you again how they are messing with people and not being very fair!

Whole thing took nearly an hour with all the time I was on hold thoguh!

Also, have 10MB broadband with NTL, got the 3 months for £17.50 a while ago, phoneed them the other day and simply asked for it for another 3 months, fela said no problema nd did it without questions, threats to leave etc :)

    Love this saving money stuff!!!!
  • Hi guys im new here.

I have had sky for a while and they have just upped the subscription by another £1.20 per month.

So i think its time i have a bit of discount from them.

What is the best things to say when you really want to get 6 months half price or something? ? ? Is it best to say you are switching to NTL or something? ? ?

I tried before and said i want to cancel it and the guy on the other end say ok then and offered me nothing, which wasn't what i wanted.

    Thanks.

    Gaz.
  • my dad would like to install sky for the first time

what no does he phone and what kind of prices should he expect to pay
  • Saint, you have to bite the bullet mate and ring cancellations. They will either offer you a deal or...cancel your subscription! If they do cancel don't panic, I had a right up and downer with them when I cancelled and within a month of being cut off they sent me a card offering 6 months at half price (I'm on the full package) and a free refurb box (the other one was knackered) and free installation. You've just got to believe...
