i would really like sky+ but currently its £159 cost plus installation. i am about to move to a new house. sky is in my name. would it be best to cancel and open a new account in my wifes name and the new address? this would give me sky+ STILL at £159 :( even though i'd be a new customer. saying that, i'd have a 6 month package with movies for half price and during that time not have to pay the sky+ £10 subscription fee. also i could get someone to recommend me as a new customer and split the £50 vouchers! that's the best way i can think of

    any other suggestions?

if you recommend your wife as a new customer before you leave you could keep the £50 in vouchers

i did have a leaflet allowing me to recommend two friends for free sky + and free installation i posted it on here but had no takers after a couple of weeks i binned it

try bluffing i will pm you my account details if you wish and i will ring up and have a go!!

will have a look for the leaflet which i go in the post but am sure i binned it but could tell them that and just see...will look tomorrow too late now !!

I want to get Premplus for the new season, but at present it's £80 which is a bit steep. I know it normally drops to £50, does anyone know when?

Got to the end of my 2nd 3 month 1/2 price deal last month (on the old family pack) & no matter how hard I tried they wouldnt give me anything like as good a deal so went through with cancellation & went onto freesat just over 1 week ago.

Just had a call from a very pleasant chap who appeared to say that sky would bend over backwards to get me back. (My line was that I wasnt getting value for money).

His 1st offer was 6 months 1/2 price on my old package with no contract & when I asked about sky+ I was offered Box for £49 with free installation & my old package with the addition of Movies for 6 months 1/2 price (£18 monthly).

I was basically offered all this on a plate without having to haggle at all.

    Means a 12 month contract but................................. :-)

Goes to show it is worth going all the way through with a cancellation.

    Yipppeeeeeeeee :rotfl:

Just got to say a big thanks to all. As you can guess, I got a good result.
My package now reduced by £10 a month for 12 months or saved £120 a year (which sounds better!) and all on the freephone number :money: :T

Just to say thanks for all the tips on here - I've managed to get the 25% off for a year deal which is excellent for me as we are on the full package! Thanks again.

As a mtter of interest has anyone managed to get a deal like this without going through with the cancellation?
I would very much like to get this and if i could get it without cancelling so much the better (obviously i would threaten to cancel).
I'm wondering if i should come clean about what i want to the cancellations team and see if they will let me have it (after givng them the cost saving/bad value for money line first)?

    Anyone think this will work?

is it true that if you cancel sky, they keep your name and address on their system so you cant get any new customer deals

If its been 2 years or more since you cancelled then you can re-register as a new customer with the same name. Less than 2 years and they will still have you registered (I found this out during a call last week).

I have been paying Sky £7,50 a month for 2 packages.Last week I gave a months notice to cancel as the offer was coming to an end and I`m out of work at the moment.Got a letter confirming the cancellation. On Monday,Sky `phoned and offered me the £7.50 deal for another 6 months. It keeps the daughters happy so I`ve accepted.
