Sky caught me out!!!
I have had the full package (£42.50) for around 2 years. I rang up on Sunday to cancel because I wanted Sky Plus.
I got put through to cancellations after about 1/2 hour.
The lady asked why I wanted to cancel and I said I was moving to NTL and before I had time to say anything else she told me that a letter would be in the post confirming my cancellation.
I received the letter today so decided to ring them. I rang using the 0800 number mentioned earlier. I told them that I cancelled on Sunday and had a friend who did the same but got a good offer on Sky Plus to stay.
I was told that I would have to ring the 08706 080427 number for new customers and that all they would tell me is that Sky Plus would cost me £159.
Any advice?0 -
you have been quite unfortunate. Its difficult to know what to do in this situation, as even the people that have canceled get offers later on. I think it depends if you are prepared to live without the pay channels for a while.
You could always get sky in someone elses name.
Whatever you do not pay that ridiculous sky plus fee. There is always that honesty route say you are prepared to stay if they can give you an offer. As i think you can get unlucky with who you speak to when you cancel and how many offers the turnaround department have left. As they are giving incredible 5 months 1/2 price to new suscribers, so giving you a little off your bill cant hurt them too much.
good luck0 -

It's not much help now, but at the weekends I think you get part-time staff that do not have access to the deals.
IIRC the best day to call is a Tuesday or a Wednesday.
Cheers

Or perhaps Sky have realised that the cost of bribing people to stay is more than the cost of letting them go.
All the scams advertised on these forums have a life and will be pulled when they become so popular that the companies offering the deals consider that they gain nothing from them.

is it true that if you cancel sky, they keep your name and address on their system so you cant get any new customer deals0
