I'm also trying to reduce my outgoings and I've paid too much to sky in the last 4yrs. I currently have sky tv, phone, calls and broadband with them. However, I want to cancel sky tv cos I dont watch it anymore.

I'm with virgin, it appears that you need to pay a one-off "activation" fee of £49 in order to start receiving your HD channels, but I got BBC HD, ITV1 HD, and Channel 4 HD fro no extra cost. An engineer came to replace my old faulty digital box and replaced it with a new V HD box for no extra cost! I got the unsubscribed message when trying to watch the HD channels, but they seem to work fine today! Bear in mind I'm on the M+ package, so I don't get stuff like eurosport HD etc as I don't receive the regular versions.0 -

We are with Virgin and until recently has the M package with unlimited Talk and 20mg BB. My partner rang to see how much it was to change to HD and he was quoted £49 plus £35 installation:eek:.
I called back and went through to the " do you want to leave us" option. I managed to get HD, upgrade to XL and keep the Talk unlimited and BB at no extra cost:rotfl:
Phone them, say Sky are offering a good deal and see what they can do
Good luckLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
I am on Sky TV 2pack (no phone or broadband) at £19/month.
Called to say I wanted to switch to Freesat was offered 6 months at £9/month so staying for time being.0 -
Phoned Sky this PM, got a very helpful lady when i pressed option to cancel.
Told her i was looking to reduce costs, and wanted to at least cancel one channel package (kids- they have grown out of it anyway) and then see how else we could save costs rather than switching to freesat.
Immediately offered me 6 months free, then a new HD sky+ box for £10 per month, subject to 12 month contract.
New box is free, although initially it was £30 to install, until I asked to self install as it is only a couple of cables - so now totally free
Was also offered a good deal on broadband & phone, but am already on contract elsewhere on these
Have now reduced my monthly costs and got a better package with a snazzy new box
New box comes saturday
Nice one Sky!0 -
We have pretty much all Sky channels, HD, ESPN, Sports/Movies etc. We don't have phone or broadband with Sky. We pay them £67.50 a month - after reading the posts on here (have read many over the last few months) I think I will try to get a better deal without reducing the channels. Problem is we have been with Sky for about 11 months now - any chance they will help us out a bit, or will we have to wait the full year? I have tried in the past, and they didn't offer me anything; hopefully that might change now i have been with them almost a year.Getting married to a wonderful lady on August 10, 2012.
Need to save up, lose weight, reduce my money worries and get back to being the real me! :j0 -
i also have a sky tv package , sky phone and broadband ,is it possible to cancel the tv part and keep the broadband and phone?living on the "edge"0

I phoned today I had Sky sports package with all entertainment packages (no movies)
Sky talk + line rental
Sky unlimited broadband
Very old panasonic digibox.
Was paying approx. £70 per month (including calls)
I said was going to cancel (couldnt afford it anymore).
Ended up with Variety Pack,News & Events Pack (no Children's Pack,Knowledge Pack,Style & Culture Pack and Music Pack)
Sky talk + line rental
Sky unlimited broadband
Dont have to pay £10 per month for HD subscription but only get free HD channels (BBC,ITV ect.)
Half price TV for 6 months
Ok got no sports:( (will have to go to the pub:beer:)
So will now pay £30.50 per month (phone calls to be added) for 6 months then £40 after that.
Worth a 10 minute phone call0
