Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

Generali's rules for a happy forum:

2. Only respond to ad hominem arguments with strictly on topic responses*
3. Never get into a slanging match*
4. Remain polite and unflappable at all times*

One man's abuse is another man's humour, or fun, or banter, or sometimes a richly deserved personal attack. In terms of policing this board I think a great improvement would be limit all posters to say ten posts a day. This would be easy to implement, would cut down on seeing the same person again and again, and might also make us more aware of value of the precious ten posts a day we are crafting.
For my own part I have found the power of the Thanks button to work in greatly toning down my act, because I am sad that way!
Yeah this would limit our more frequent members to say around 60 posts per day (Multiple usernames)0 -

But there do seem to be some people who are constantly posting, personal nasty comments on a regular basis (and even getting thanked for them!)
It would be nice for some of the stalwarts to stand up and comment on these as new posters must feel fairly threatened if they do not have the same view as certain people on here.
We know we have the grouches who do not get on !!!!!!, DD, carolt, PP and me in earlier posts.
But some of the posts are getting beyond a joke and to personal for my likening.
Is this workable?
What do you all think?
I think you are a drama queen, nothing more. The fact that you constantly feel the need to draw attention to yourself certainly highlights some personal issues that you have. I am sure you could channel your time and energy into something that would be far more positive.
Forums are gonna attract all kinds of people and some of those people are going to express an opinion which opposes yours in a potentially aggressive manner. The solution? Probably not to spend countless hours moderating, it's a never ending task. Simply get some back bone and stop having a tizzy everytime someone says something......'mean'?
Seriously though, if a forum begins to anger you or upset you for more than a small period of time (or actually at all) then its really time to leave it alone and get on with something else. If you do choose to do this please bump one of your previous 23676 goodbye posts though rather than creating a new one.

It's lovely to be oblivious to all the politics for a change.
I only come on this board when I feel like it. I can be fluffy all by myself on the main board knowing that most of the nutters aren't interested in lease extensions
I sat through an hour's presentation on the property market this morning. That's enough for me!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I think a great improvement would be limit all posters to say ten posts a day.
Hmmm - I don't remember anyone placing a limit on the number of properties (homes) a person could acquire, which has continually forced up the prices, in the credit-fuelled HPI mega-party of the past 10 years. Maybe if you'd been in charge of policy back them things might now be different.
From people like the Wilsons with hundreds of properties, to so many regular people, who've jumped on the party-wagon with 2, 3 or 4+ BTLs bought in the last few years, and pushed the prices up to such levels we have a bubble second only to the Japanese real estate bubble.
So I'm not exactly going to agree to a limit on posts for simple discussion, especially where there is some genuine wisdom from many a poster, when we've only just really entered a period of reversal, and powerful forces of downwards leverage have come in to play.0 -

I can't work out your purpose here.
You've chosen a forum name of "justpurchased" and only joined last month, or should I say when the average house price was £2,300 more expensive.
Even so, it feels like you've been here for ages - and we've already had one goodbye thread from you.
That said, I wouldn't class you as a troll or nearly as disruptive as some others on many an interesting thread. You have raised some interesting points of discussion.0 -
The really funny thing is, none of you get it, the real reason you are here on this sub board.Been away for a while.0

Shut it!
