How do they repair your credit rating, i have a few defaults as a direct result of their charging, i am in the process of waiting a response to my letter before actino to Halifax and Capital one, can you advise me further please.

It is only the person who registered the default who can take it off (don't settle for 'settled' or 'satisfied' - it MUST BE REMOVED if it was a direct result of the punitive charging).
The basically fill in a form and send it to the credit agencies (experian etc...).0 -

Yes. If it was.
Are you suing them at the moment? If so, when they attempt to settle, tell them that you will settle if they correct your credit history, otherwise, you'll see them in court.0 -

I don't think that Halifax have affected my credit history as i don't have an overdraft with them. But Capital one CERTAINLY have. THank you for your ongoing advice dchurch it is much appreciated.

As an aside:
Experian's Credit Expert:
If you have a loan account with Royal Bank of Scotland or National Westminster Bank, you may get an alert about this account from CreditExpert in January or February. Don't worry – it’s actually good news.
These banks are providing new data to Experian, the credit reference agency behind CreditExpert. They have decided to share the details of more accounts in an effort to support responsible lending. When the information is added to your credit report it will trigger a new account alert, even though this may be an account you have held for several years.
A more detailed credit report will help you to build a clearer picture of your financial situation.
For more information about account information please see the Frequently Asked Questions on the CreditExpert web site.0 -
Some advice urgently needed. I have had a notice of charges from Nationwide saying I owe £410 which will be taken from my account this Friday. Needless to say, I don't have £410 to give them! So I propose to write to them and hand the letter into the branch tomorrow asking for them to review my account and remove the unfair and illegal penalty charges. If they disagree with my analysis, they should not debit my account until the issue is resolved. Is this OK for the first step of being nice?
I started reading this thread, got to page 55 but am running out of time!
