yes and they should give up their territory to those who will canvass. My SL asked what roads do we have, how many customers actually buying on each road and what date did we ACTUALLY canvass it last.
So think they are tightening up now.0 -

Can't understand why people don't knock and ask. What's the worst that can happen? They say No........ It's not going to hurt you and at least you get an immediate reply. Okay, it's not pleasant sometimes to get a whole series of people saying No but the advantages are:
* No waiting a few days for a reply (and possibly still getting a No then too)
* No risk of losing a book (chances are they may not be in when you go back and/or may even throw the book away if they don't want it)
* You get to immediately identify potential customers - result!
* You get to let them see you and how 'nice' you are i.e. more chance of getting an order if you personalise the whole thing (Today I went back to collect a book I left in a local shop recently - owner wasn't in at the time. She headed towards me and I thought... oh, oh... here's another No... only for her then to recognise me as a past customer and her demeanour changed totally. "I hadn't realised it was you" she said. Am still not sure what she meant but she asked for more time to look at the book - result, hopefully!)
* No chance of aggravating customers, who already have an agent, but mainly....
* You actually cover more potential territory and more quickly identify people, who are actually interested in Avon (or at least willing to look at the book)!
Take a deep breath, ladies; knock and ask!

The only reeason I DON'T do this is simply because people will often say no, but if you have a book in front of you, to see for yourself all the bargains, it's more tempting to order!0 -
I completely agree with you Gemma. When I started, I knocked on doors, and the majority of people said 'no thanks'. However, a few months down the line, I accidentally 'forgot' and put a book through those doors anyway, and quite a number of the original 'no's' are now good customers.
If you put people on the spot, they'll usually default to 'no' as they feel cornered and don't want to let themselves in for anything dodgy. Also, many people find a knock on the door just as they're cooking dinner or watching Eastenders somewhat intrusive, whereas a book through the door allows them to make up their mind in their own time. Yes, you'll lose a few books, but that doesn't matter so much if you use books which will soon expire anyway, and at least you keep the goodwill.
