Definately keep taking the books to people unless they specifically say they don't want one - depending how the last rep left it could have put them off ordering this first time, until they see that you are going to carry on and then they will start to order. I was still picking up new customers after the 5th book being delivered to people so don't give up! Yes you can place an order below the MOV, obviously you won't earn but you can. It could be worth ordering some bits for yourself (maybe in preparation for Christmas presents even!) in order to hit £78 so that you get a discount. The cost of your books will count towards the £78 so say you order £5 of books, then you only need £73 of orders which isn't so bad. Have you been knocking on doors to get the books back or popping notes through to say that you have been? Sometimes people won't leave them out as they have forgotten, or they may want to ask you something so want you to knock on their door! You will definately pick up more customers each campaign, and eventually those customers will start to show their daughter/mother etc who doesn't have an Avon lady so you gain more customers through that also. hth
Thank-you Lozza for the reply, it's much appreciated! It's nice to know theres some support on here for Avon Reps/leaders. I am going to continue pushing them through the doors, got about 3 people who already get Avon from family & don't want me 2 drop off a brouchure. There was about 3 people who also either told me or left a note not to leave boruchures again as they weren't interested. So at least I know about those & won't deliever books there. I have been an avon customer for about 8 years & order everytime so have added some products for myself. Unfortunately the work orders are not big this time and my total sale value is very low at around £30.00 then of course i have added books, bags and a few samples. It;s a great idea to bump up the sales with some Gifts such as for Christmas but think theres too big of a gap this time for me to do so. How much discount on products would i be getting at £78.00? I haven;t been knocking on doors as i feel this may be invading privacy and i am not 100% confortable with doing so - i went back again to see if there were anymore books and i managed to collect 5 more. I have put my address & mobile on the form & presume that potential customers will contact me with any queries but possibly not. You have given me some great ideas so thanks!! Jus wanted to add that I have a good Sales Leader who will always help if theres any problems, which I am lucky with. What are other peoples experiences of their SL? - Emma -xx

Once you hit £78 you will get 20%, then once you are above £148 you get 25%. If you don't want to knock on doors (which I have to admit I don't always depending on the houses!) it's definately worth popping a note through just so that people know you have been - something along the lines "I called to collect your Avon book, if you could leave it outside for me to collect tomorrow, even if you are not ordering then I won't need to disturb you. Many thanks, then your name". Lots of people need a nudge in the right direction to remember to leave it out, especially if they haven't had a book for a while! If you have any family members who work or could show their friends your book it's worth giving them an extra one - I get 2 customers from my Mums workplace & 2 from my sisters neighbours, or even your work colleagues might want to take one home if they have teenage children/sisters/their Mum but they don't have an Avon lady.Glad to help! xAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Hi Summer,
I totally agree - the weather here tonight is horrendous! I am a bit demotivated as well at the moment. Think it is because everyone seems to be on holiday so no one is returning their books hence no orders. I have done this for 2 years now and sometimes I wonder whether I should carry on but you still get a buzz from the big orders (once in a blue moon!) I am hoping that the lead up to Christmas will be a bit better - trying to decide whether I will start a wee loyalty thing now resulting in money off items in the Xmas brochure. Always good at the thinking, it is the putting into practice that is the difficult bit!!;)Summer-Caitlin wrote: »Hi ladies
Sorry I have been AWOL, been so busy recently and not with Avon!
Again I am feeling demotivated with Avon. The weather here is crap and I am pretty annoyed that I cannot reuse C11 as it means I will have to miss out half of my territory this time. Am also getting increasingly annoyed by the number of people that don't leave thier book out. It's taking me longer and longer to get round my territory as I have to keep knocking on doors.
I keep wanting to give it a bit more, but as my sales have been gradually decreasing, find the motivation severely lacking. So come on inspire me, have you girls noticed that this campaign has picked up with all the great offers?0 -
I've just discovered a loophole when it comes to ordering demo products
. As you know, you can only order one of each item (or one of each colour, fragrance etc), but it appears that the system will let you back-order the same items in the following campaign.
I won't know for certain if this works until the lip balms in question do/don't turn up next Wednesday - I'll keep you posted'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

Not certain of this, Elliebee, but think you will be invoiced at the brochure price for additional items that you have already ordered as demos. Will be interesting to see.
You can back order items that you haven't already had as demos - comes in handy for those bits you couldn't afford the month before or for getting samples at the cheapest offer over 2 HT's.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Yip Elliebee you will get them, but you will get charged brochure price I have done it previously, thinking I was clever.
But I do backorder for samples etc whichever has the best deal.
And I made a great saving this month
one of my customers ordered the petal robe and chemise costing £25
but HT 14 was doing the buy the robe for £8.40 get the chemise free
so made £16.60 :j
with the mascara from HT14
I have ordered 2 one for me and one for demo
and I will allow people to order it for the next campaign ( 1 campaign early )
and allow them to order it for £4 making me 50p profit per mascara
and letting them think they have got a bargain, will stand me in good stead for further deals.
Was hoping C12 was going to be a goodie but so far have got 4 orders
ach well at least I have hit my MOV and have at least one other order to come in for definate. :rolleyes:Life is what you make it;)0 -

Ah Well, it was worth a try! I'm not too fussed as they'll only cost me 10p more at normal price anyway, so won't break the bank. They are the fruity lip balms which I wanted as gifts for a couple of 9/10 year-olds who've spent a chunk of their pocket money with me - no harm in encouraging customers for the future'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

If you spend £12 on petrol, £6 on books and an appointing pack, and that rep never places a first order, sadly you can see how it adds up. Plus the ones that do, you earn £2 commission on, and then they never place a second order! Plus the advertising expenditure was huge :-(
Luckily I was funding it from another of my businesses but sadly I have had to call it a day. It was very stressful receiving calls at all times of day and night, plus weekends . When you think of the hassle you get non stop, and then your pay cheque turns up for just £85, meaning you've been working for less than 25p per hour, you do wonder why....
Anyway I hope my feedback helps someone. My advice would be to take it real slow, don't advertise except for free, and don't recruit too many at a time as you don't get to know them well enough that you can be sure of retaining them!
Thanks for posting that, Charlie, my ASM is coming to see me today about salesleadership but I told her I have not decided whether to do it or not, not sure if I could manage. Think I prefer to work on my own instead of having to look after others, train, encourage them, etc. Will see what she says.
Plus - the delivery man left a box for my next door neighbour with me yesterday - seems she has started doing Avon as well! I think me being just a rep, I don't mind, but if I were a SL I might feel she/her SL is competition IYSWIM.LBM 31/01/2009: £19,422

Ah, what do you do when your SL leaves *points above* :eek:0 -
:rotfl: Breath a sigh of relief in some cases, I suspect from things I've read on here
Mine's OK - we have an arrangement.......I don't bother her and she doesn't bother me:p'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum
