Sub-£350 powerful laptops discussion

After previous posts on this thread where we were looking to replace our desktop only to resurrect it thanks to the "Slow Running PC" thread elewhere on the forums, it has now been decreed that our 15.6" laptop is too heavy for lugging around on holiday and I have been given instructions to search out a suitable lightweight option!!!
I received the e-bay daily deals e-mail today, and one supplier has a 13.3" Dell M301Z with 4mb RAM and 500GB hard drive for £270. A few reviews I have read about this machine suggests there are no major issues with it, but wondering if any MSE users have experience of this machine and if it is a good deal.
Many thanks.0 -

not sure if it helps anyone but i was in staples (glasgow) yesterday and they had a clearance sale on the laptops, some good deals for the lower-mid range machines - suppose it's only useful of all the stores are doing it or you are in glasgow but oh well! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi,
My laptop is 10 years old and is giving up the ghost as we speak! Good innings tho
So I want a new one......
I need it for my uni work, surfing, itunes, photos, iplayer, playing the odd game, downloading and storing bits and bobs!
Basically I want it to be able to run a few things at once and go faster than a snail
Top end is the 350 but would prefer something a bit cheaper......
Have bee offered a 3 month old Toshiba Satalite c660 i3 with 3gb and 350 hdd for 300. Is this a good price?
Thanks in advance!:D0
