EDIT: Just looked them up on CPU Benchmark and the AMD Phenom II X4 N930 scores 2447, the i5-2410M scores 3356. That's a significant difference IMO0 -

Above you will see two bargain ASUS X53E laptops with a fantastic spec around £322. Unless your daughter dislikes red or pink?If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

I did read the posts but am unsure whether an i5 with 3gb is better than an i3 with 4gb for £70 extra. Sorry if I was not very clear.0 -

The i3 has a score of 2550. So theoretically the i5 is 30% faster.
But the i3 laptop has more memory and has a bigger disk. I think the i3 will be good enough for presentations and facebook.
I strongly recommend an extended warranty of 3 years. e.g.

EDIT: the red one is still available (£322 for i3-2310M with 4GB memory and 500GB disk et al)If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Ok I've looked through the last pages and tried the ones in John Lewis and the Sainsburys one all out of stock...
I have to buy a laptop by this evening, which will be used for some business use (word, Sage and excel) internet use and photos etc... 15.6 inch screen would be good as i find 17 inch too heavy.
Ideally we would like to get it under £350, absolute max £400. I'm not keen on the pink or red asus one.
I've had a Dell Laptop for the last 3 years and it's been a nightmare laptop and is now on it's second battery needing a 3rd so i know there is no hope of making my old one go faster or trying to get another new battery as frankly the thing is falling apart all over the shop and i'm surprised i've made it last this long! Though i think that's thanks to a four plug and sellotape! :rotfl:
Any suggestions?0 -
