Here is the link for it:
    Staples laptop
    Full spec HERE
Assuming the 10% code still works, the Dixons Acer above is better value. Its got the 2nd generation processor (i3-2310M); also has 4GB RAM and USB3. With Quidco (now 3%) this still comes in at under £350.
EDIT: I think this is the black one (blue link above) http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-5750-15-6-laptop-black-09933620-pdt.html

Does anyone know if the code works for this laptop? The site says the code is for items above £399 and this one is exactly £399.

Yep. even works for £399 (easy to test - just need to create a Dixons web account).

What games? If its for modern action games £350 is not enough; if its for SIMS3 then go for the best processor you can buy. The Dixons one above is a good example.

Thank you for your reply Grumpycrab. Have spoken to my son and he says the game he really wants to play on the laptop is World of Warcraft - it isnt an action game.

He says the laptop needs only the minimum spec to play that game which is:

    Windows
    Intel pentium 4 1.3GHz
    or
    AMD Athalon XP 1500+

    NVIDIA Geforce FX
    or
ATI Radeon 9500 Video card or better

    25Gb available hard drive space
    1Gb RAM

    4X DVD ROM drive

I know very little about laptops or computers in general - is a machine with the above spec likely to be over £350? Anyone have any suggestions of one that has this spec? Thank you in advance for any more help.

I would really appreciate some help please.

Do you think the Asus 5750 would be better than say a Toshiba/Samsung/Dell?? I know the others would be lower spec but I'm thinking about build quality.

    Any advice gratefully received.;)
