And any chance you could pm me the code for the discount?
As i posted above, i'm looking to get a laptop on behalf of my mum for my sisters Christmas present so this one would be ideal at 359.
the way i get it to £359 is code: 25POUND takes it to £375 going through quidco (3%) takes it to £363.75 and as i'm paying with a clarity rewards credit card i get £5 cashback if i spend over £300 in a month, taking it to £358.75.
Sorry if i've been a misleading. if you don't have the clarity or quidco it's £375 - still a very good deal for an i3Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - Mike Tyson0 -

Hi
Is this one any good I notice it has been posted above but no comments have been made.
I use to surf/email/correspondence.
No gaming except on competitons :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thanks for looking

Im hoping this lappy is ok because ive just bought one for my son. . I was watching ebay and they sold 150+ yesterday (almost 1000 now) and I notice the price is back up to £329 now.0 -
Since you asked:
Asus X64JQ
Battery life 2- 3 hours with power management.
Note the price. Not exactly a budget laptop. Laptops and quality gaming don't go together, desktops are much better suited to playing games. Yes there are some medium priced (£500-700) laptops with decent dedicated graphics that will play many games but not at the £350-400 level. Most laptops at that level are fairly basic specs designed to do general internet stuff and office work. Most are of similar spec and performance so it's mainly in my opinion a matter of what brand you prefer and at what price. Reliability wise, Toshiba and Asus are regarded as the ones to go for first followed by Dell and Acer.
Hope this helps.
When we talk about budget laptops not being best suited to gaming, does that include such on-line games as Evony and Runescape and Facebook games like Farmville?
Many thanks."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
OH is looking for something at the moment, our budget is slightly higher than this thread at maybe £400 but does anyone have any recommendations? He has had a bad experience in the past with Fujitsu Siemens but other than that he's pretty open to suggestion. His last laptop was a Toshiba that has never been a problem in 5 years so its a brand he favours.
It will be primarily used for work, particularly CAD Drawings, as well as general internet surfing etc.0 -

yeah I saw that, i went to my local currys on tuesday and they wouldn't match the online price, even though i could reserve and collect! So i left it and thought, i'll get it at the weekend. the very next day it's gone up £50!
i've just ordered a different laptop going through the currys discount code/quidco/clarity cashback route to get a £400 one for £359.
this was my list
- at least 3GB DDR3 RAM - expandable
- HDMI
- at least 250GB hard drive
- at least 3 x USB 2.0
- multi gesture touchpad
- a "decent" processor - CPU benchmark score of 1400 or more
- Windows 7 64-bit
The Acer 5742 had all of these, but it went above budget, what i got was:
HP G72-110sa
Intel Core i3 Processor i3-330M (2.13GHz, 3MB L2 Cache)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
3GB DDR3 Memory
320GB SATA Hard drive (7200 rpm)
17.3″ High-Definition LED Backlit HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900 pixels)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD
Up to 1274 MB total available graphics memory from shared resources
LightScribe SuperMulti DVD±RW Optical Drive with Double Layer Support
Wireless Enabled (WLAN 802.11 b/g)
Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN for wired network connections
HDMI output
VGA output to connect to external displays or projectors
5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro or xD Picture cards
3 x USB 2.0 ports
Altec Lansing speakers
6-cell Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery
It has everything except multi gesture touchpad, but has a 17 inch screen to compensate.
So for £359 - an i3 processor and 17 inch screen. The catch, it's a refurb but with a full 12 month warranty.

Has anyone used this deal to get an extra £50 off a laptop, pc or netbook at PC World?
I'm not allowed to post the link but search pc worrld trade in laptop on google and it appears as the 3rd item.
They are advertising (Daily Mail, yesterday) £30 off with a trade in but this is obviously a better deal.0
