Mines gone on tonight. Just seen the weather news, it is going to get cold the next few days0

I think the heatings been on in this house for about 10 hours this month! I tend to usually snuggle up in a £2 fleece throw from Primark (cheaper than central heating lol). I haven't received a gas bill in this house yet though, we pay £40 a month in DD, so expecting atleast a £100 bill or more! It's a good thing there's 6 of us in the house lol.0

unfortunately i need a warm house as i keep rather a lot of snakes - and a warm house means that i pay less in electricity for the specialist heating for each snake - so my house stays at around 21 deg:EasterBun Sanity, Something I look forward to having :spam:

Still holding out here
I'm lucky as the flat downstairs heating kicks in at 5:30pm and then my flat gets nice and toasty
I do sometimes put a throw over my lap on the sofa in the evenings, but other than that I haven't noticed it being particularly cold yet

It`s cold here.
This weather report is from our local online paper, the Orcadian Online, it gets updated today but the forecast is for actual snow this week!
I took the binbags down my track this morning and when I got in I had to thaw my hands out. Brr....SATURDAY 25th: Rain, spreading north this morning, becoming persistent and at times heavy, as S or SSE'ly winds increase gale F8 to severe gale F9. Gusts of up to 80 mph can be expected across exposed areas. During the afternoon brighter, showery conditions will spread from the west, as gale or severe gale-force winds veer SW to W'ly and ease F6 to gale F8. A mixture of clear spells and blustery showers this evening and overnight. Some of the showers heavy with hail and the risk of thunder.
Sea state - Very rough or high with a 6 to 8 metre W'ly swell.
SUNDAY 26th: Cooler with sunny or clear spells and showers, these heavy at times and turning increasingly wintry as F6 to gale F8 winds veer NW'ly.
Sea state - Very rough with a 5 to 6 metre NW'ly swell.
MONDAY 27th: Cold with wintry showers - even at lower levels - and F6 to gale F8 NW'ly winds. It is possible that around the middle of the day a band of more prolonged showers will move south over the Isles.
Sea state - Very rough with a 5 to 6 metre NW'ly swell.FORECAST FOR NEXT THREE DAYSAs a very deep and vigorous depression rushes past northwest Scotland today, the S'ly airflow will strengthen markedly, before veering SW'ly later this afternoon as the low moves away and associated fronts clear Shetland.
Confidence level: Weather type – high/medium. Timing – medium.
A cooler W'ly airflow will follow for Sunday as the low moves into the Norwegian Sea, and a colder NW'ly by Monday as pressure builds to the west of the British Isles. During Monday, as high pressure to the west links with an anticyclone over East Greenland, a cold Arctic airflow is expected to develop. This strong or very strong N'ly airflow is likely to persist until mid-week at least
During the remainder of the week and into the following weekend, low pressure in the Norwegian Sea/Scandinavia area is forecast to sink south to the east of the UK. With an anticyclone predicted to persist to the west of Scotland, this should result in the cool and strong N'ly airflow veering NE'ly.0 -
I think this week's weather could get a lot colder, but one by-product of not having the heating on for most of the day and wearing extra layers of clothing is that I feel a little more energised and somewhat less sleepy, so more inclined to tackle household chores instead of slumping in a chair. Also the air is less dry and stuffy so probably more healthy.0

On my run this morning it was surprisingly warm and I had to shed some layers, but I've just been to the bank on my lunch hour and my hands feel as if they have been carved from ice!0

brrr... When I got in the car this morning it was 3 degrees. Just heard on the weather is is going to be -2 overnight...
I think this year it will be worth investing in a fan blower to give the bedroom a blast of warm air before I get out of bed. Saves putting the whole house heating on.

Comes with a remote control to warm the bedroom before you get out of bed. Takes upto 10 amps or a 2kw heater0 -

Was very tempted after reading the weather reports earlier, but gonna leave it for tonight to see just how cold it will get.
DS has gone to bed with his trousers on tonight (sleeps in a Grobag!) as I noticed his legs were not overly warm this morning like the normally are, and if it drops below 18 in the nursery, I'll turn his heater on (thermostat control, and I switch it off at the wall during the day), but I'm hoping to hold off with the storage heaters for a little while yet..... we shall see!'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0
