We must be hardy up here in Scotland.
Last winter the temperature in the bedroom was 6C a couple of nights and we still just made do with an electric blanket and a cuddle.
But I don't know about this year. DH died suddenly in June so I guess it will be me and the cats.

Very sad to hear Janey and still very early days for you. All very best wishes.

  • How's everyone doing with the heating situation?

I'm pleased to report that so far I have not had to put the heating on, although the temp at night in the house has dropped by about 3 degrees, so an extra layer for DS in bed soon!

    What about everyone else?

  • Had to put it on for a couple of hours yesterday  as watched ds play rugby and it was blowing a hooly, and we were freezing when we came home! But am now back on the straight and narrow and determined not to put it on again until at least November :j

Well a few weeks ago we put it on for an hour a day for 3 days. We didn't need it on for very long as we started to get warm. I don't think it'll be going on unless it gets REALLY cold. Probably Novmeber time it will go on.

had to put mine on as i had my baby girl on the 1st and it seemed to go really cold just after. have to make sure shes warm and ive been really ill with complications after the birth ( they left some placenta in me) so need to keep us all looked after. i dont mind though. we also live in the middle of a fieal as we are on an air base thats very open so it gets very cold. went into town today and there was no wind but when we get home its actuaaly ratlling the fireplace its that strong so it shows the difference were you live can make to the tempreture.
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed

ha, i wish my other half was as good as you lot on ere ;)....i come home everyday from work, and she is always sitting by the fire, and on her top, she is only wearing a t-shirt or something like that..., ok, seeing as that is the only heated room in the whole house, i wouldnt mind so much, but the door to that front room is always wide open, letting all the heat out, plus, if she is that cold, why not put a jumper or something on first, then see if you feel that cold..........ok, i know im moaning a bit, but its nearly like ithat all year round, even through our so called summer, ok, it was wet, but not cold.....was it?/ or is it just me being a grumpy old git, trying to keep the bills down ;)

I think I must be mad!!! I have been sitting on sofa last couple of days for a couple of hours in the evening. I have had all my clothes on, pair of gloves, coat and blanket and I am blooming freezing!!! I dont know about saving money but I reckon its gonna go on in the next couple of days. My house is just so cold. despite double glazing and cavity insulation everyone remarks on how cold it is. I am typing this now with gloves on and cant feel my fingers!!! I was hoping to last til november but dont think I can go that far. :o
  • Am glad to see this thread again, I missed it

I still haven't put the heating, not once, not for even a second. In fact I don't even know if my heating works as I rent and I only moved in in June!

I am determined to hold out for November and don't see it being a problem as am really not cold yet at all. Not even an extra jumper. I must be a freak.
