had to put mine on as i had my baby girl on the 1st and it seemed to go really cold just after. have to make sure shes warm and ive been really ill with complications after the birth ( they left some placenta in me) so need to keep us all looked after.

Congratulations to you all jpwhittle! :T Great news and I can see whay you'd be wanting to keep warm.

We've only had one heater on very, very low last week, but not this. However, I'll be putting it on tonight ready for the cold spell that's due to hit. I'm not going to freeze for anyone, but on the other hand, neither do I want to waste it. Put it on as it's needed is surely the best way.

We haven't turned the gas fire on yet - but I'm up to four layers - thermal vest, T shirt, Jumper and fleece...

Next time hubby's feeling "friendly" ;) the heating will go on as an early warning system - you just watch! :rotfl:

We've been together for 22 years though, so I might have to endure up to a week of this cold before that happens! :D:o

haha jackxxx ;) i know the feeling there ;)....
Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.
  • I only have gas fires in two rooms in my flat, and neither are on yet!
I've been up to quite a few layers so far, but only really feeling it today - my hands are so cold! Last year we had ice on the inside of the windows, so fingers crossed we won't get that bad too soon!
I have an oilfilled electric heater in my bedroom, and a heated blanket, but not sure how much they cost, so how efficient they are!
Thankfully I'm going to a friends for dinner tonight, and babysit on Thursday - both houses have central heating and double glazing - luxury!!

I gave in two days ago, I've had a stinking cold for a fortnight now and it was really cold. I've not had the blower on much though, just the overnight heating.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • we still haven't buckled to the cooling temperatures! but i must admit the last 2 days have suddenly got nippy!

Try this..... I have an electric blanket under the throw on the sofa, and I get too hot..!! They only cost pennies per hour to run, and I have no other heating on at all yet. I dont really need anything during the day, so this is just when I stop and sit in the evening, between food and bed. I'm going to see how much of the winter I can survive this way. The cat loves it...

    Cheers

I put my oil filled radiator on for a bit last night because it was really cold - thankfully it is on a thermostat and switches itself off when the room warms up. I did switch it off at the wall.

It is so cold today that I have shut the vents on the double glazing on one side of my flat, I have even shut my bedroom window for the first time this year too...brrrr I am toying with the idea of switching on my electric blanket so that I can get into a nice warm bed.
