I swear every church hall in the land has signed up for this challenge. I have occasion to visit these places for various organisations I belong to and I swear that these buildings are the coldest places on earth. Even when we don't have our heating on at home, when I return from a church hall it always feels like walking into the Hot House at Kew Gardens!
  • I am still holding off and don't have a leccy blanket to use :(

  • Still warm here.... in fact warmer than it has been the last few nights. I'm convinced the neighbours are keeping us warm!

Just popping in to say the heating is still off in my house.

I have been wearing extra clothes though and 2 duvets on bed and am really looking forward to November 1st as i will allow myself to put heating on then but its only going on when really needed and only for an hour or so a day.

Just a mention to all of those who have school aged kiddies.

Please remember that they have heating on in schools and it must be freezing for them when they come home to unheated homes during some of the recent cold weather we've had.

Please think of them and not a "I will not surrender" before date as we all owe it to our youngsters to keep them warm, especially with such cold weather forecast for next week and them being on HT!

Best wishes - NOT criticism - intended.

But equally, it might be doing them some harm in keeping their environment too warm - the jury is still out.

Though I know what you're getting at ZTD, it doesn't exactly include home warmth or schools as possibles, more a different way of living these days. However, it could also be said that if kiddies are in too cold an environment for great lengths of time that it could also be detrimental to their health. If they are warm for half the day, then cold at home, the switch won't be doing any favours to their health. I believe all kiddies should have a certain degree of warmth at home, especially in order that they don't go to bed cold and unable to sleep.

There's always a line where common sense is necessary, but if not careful that silliness can take over.

  • Heating is on for just a few hours a day here at the moment but we have no double glazing. We also have no carpets - just wood floors which makes it colder, I think.
