I'm getting a bit worried about myself on the ocd front here... First thing I do in the morning is check how the poll is going and read the latest posts... However, I have picked up some good tips (like the snuggly throws from asda) and it's remarkable how reading through strengthens my resolve to keep the heating off. Yes, I'm still holding out and I have you lot to thank for that.
What I would like to know is... are we going to restart the poll sometime? I'm sure that some of the voters who said theirs was off will, by now, have put it on. Can we have another snapshot now we've reached October?
Just a thought.
Cheers
Molly
A good idea Molly.
We're still keeping our heating at an absolute minimum with just the one night storage heater on low, but even though we all have to be careful with money, I'm not depriving my family of the comfort of a reasonably warm home. To my mind as long as you have some food and some heat then you really can't ask for a lot more, other than a wage to get by on.Gemmzie wrote:Mum's put ours on, so disappointed, I woke up too hot (I've already got my winter quilt on) and full of headache. Might turn it off in my room again
One thing I would never do in our home, is to have any form of heating in the bedroom, not unless it was a winter like 62/3!!! If that's the problem with you Gemmzie, then go ahead and turn it off, though to be fair, your mum quite possibly had your best interests at heart, explain it to her, your headaches too.

I am still holding firm. I am wearing my pink boot slippers that are furry inside but am bare armed and feeling Ok. (the slippers were an amazing bargain in a new look sale, I think they were about £2 and they are amazing for toasty feet (and they wash well) result

During December to February I may turn the heating on if someone is coming round, which is about once a week for a couple of hours. Other than that it's very rare for my heating to be switched on
Am a firm believer in wearing layers and have an extra duvet to go on the bed for those really cold nights.0 -
It was quite chilly today but slipped on one of my new thermal cami tops under my other top and immediately felt quite toasty and warm. So no heating on yet

Hurray, we made it til October
I turned the heating on today - DD's birthday tomorrow & she has a cold so really coudnt wait any longer, just for a couple of hours in the morning & a couple of hours in the evening.
I had about £50 credit on the gas meter so it will be 'interesting' to see how quick that disappears  .
Well done everyone who's braving it out for longer

We turned it on this morning for the first time, just to check that everything was working OK. Then we switched if off again and will see how long we can manage for.0

The thermometer says18 degrees in our sitting room today! (It's been 19 for the past couple of weeks) I had three tops on on the sofa last night and got my furry throw out in readiness.
I want some pink fluffy boot slippers too!

I'm findind having a room thermometer in the lounge a real help in stopping me switching the heating on. Last night I was cold when it was 18 1/2 degrees, today its 17 and yet i'm fine and sat here in a t-shirt
Its sunny outside though so it must be making my brain think its warmer than it is.
