thank goodness for the mid forties inner heating system:D :D Im off on hols next week which to me says its still summer therefore come hell or high water that heating will not go on until post hols - ie mid october and even then its gonna have to be very cold.

Apparently posh spice wears gloves and socks to bed - sure its not a money saving ploy but its a thought:D

    A fellow londoner!! Hello!

I was wondering why everyone else was cold but me (nuclear reactor downstairs aside) and thought maybe it was because we are so tightly packed in here, mind you when I popped out earlier I did need my gloves (although not a coat) so I guess it is getting colder. Which bit are you in? I am way out East at the Edge of zone three.

I have a bit of an obsession with London temperature compared to other places, sometimes it keeps me warm but other times, like Christmas or Easter when businesses are shut I really feel the cold especially if I have to travel through the centre - or I could be imagining it

Not my thread so possibly speaking out of turn, but it is probably safe to say you are more than welcome, we don't get many of the illustrious rosetted posters around here (and we'll take anyone, except trolls, we don't like them much)

NB still no heating on here, am still pretty comfortable (no heating on and sitting in PJ bottoms and vest top) so going to try to hold out until November if I can

Alas I'm stil the only poster on mse with the rosettes cos nobody else has passed 55k posts yet :o:oi The saddest of the lot, eh? :o :rotfl: ;)

Anyway... I'm in West London, Acton - part of the Borough of Ealing, also zone 2/3.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I'm sitting here with two jumpers and a buff (that's like a cyclist's skull cap thingy you wear under your helmet to keep your head warm). I'm OK at the moment but have you seen the weather forecast for the weekend? It's going to be down around 3 or 4 degrees centigrade brrrr, I may have to give in :(. I'm not going down without a fight though ..... when milder nights come again the heating will be off!

Haven't looked that far ahead. And don't intend to. I'm not listening.

Still hanging on without the heating. Currently wearing thick sweater and a fleece and when the evenings get chilly I get up and do some exercises whenever the TV adverts come on. That helps to keep the circulation going. Our house is cavity wall filled, which does help it retain the heat and I'm still sleeping in my sleeveless nightie with the summer duvet on the bed. But the thick nightdress and the woolly bedsocks are lined up ready for use.

You know folks, I've just realised this thread is in DFW? I'm not in debt (not gloating of course), but this thread is far too useful so I would like to keep posting in here now and then :o

Don't worry about "territory". We let anyone in here.

    Even me. :j

I could quite happily live without central heating, that's what jumpers are for, but the SO seems to feel the cold (it's a female thing I hear, being expensive to run) so it gets put on eventually, but only for an hour before we get up to warm the flat and a couple of hours of an evening. We'll hold out as long as the nagging is bearable before turning it on though.

When she says she's cold, give her a big hug...
