I've decided to try and hold out until November. If I get cold I'll get the halogen heater out. In fact I've been toying with the idea of getting another heater and just using two of them all winter instead of the stupid storage/blown air system.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Rather chilly here today, and my flat is not exactly the easiest to keep warm even with double glazing, as all room face north and have wall to wall large windows. :o

But I'm still keeping fairly warm by doing the following:-

I've just made a cup of tea and although I always boil just about one cup, in the winter I boil just a bit more and then add it to my flask of drinking water (I like to keep well hydrated also in cold weather). I take a sip now and then and this helps my body keep warm-ish.

I did shut her up earlier on, but boy is it getting harder and harder - one biscuit at a time won't do anymore... So be warned... :o :rotfl:

Its getting colder....and still I have resisted. I make sure that the little toad is wearing something warm, and I put on my dressing coat when I'm cold. Works a treat.

I was freezing most of yesterday - glad I had my asda fleece blanket and a hot water bottle! going to try and hang on but with the rain and gales this week I might weaken.

OH finished the radiator foil and barraging the front door with draught excluder strip last night (almost can't shut the door now! :rotfl:) so that might help. I always find a nice cup of tea warms me up lovely!

It got colder here in London too, yesterday. I was out at 6 am and had to wear jumper and fleece. Sunny all day but still chilly. I didn't put the heaters on - I refuse to do so when it's still only September!!! So more fleece on and hot drinks kept me warm.

You know folks, I've just realised this thread is in DFW? I'm not in debt (not gloating of course), but this thread is far too useful so I would like to keep posting in here now and then :o There is also a thread in Old Style, called 'Preparing for Winter" which has all sorts of useful tips on keeping warm without using energy. :)

I wanna turn my heating on, im sat here freezing. Im not gonna do yet, i'll find my jumper.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.
  • I could quite happily live without central heating, that's what jumpers are for, but the SO seems to feel the cold (it's a female thing I hear, being expensive to run) so it gets put on eventually, but only for an hour before we get up to warm the flat and a couple of hours of an evening. We'll hold out as long as the nagging is bearable before turning it on though.

    A fellow londoner!! Hello!

I was wondering why everyone else was cold but me (nuclear reactor downstairs aside) and thought maybe it was because we are so tightly packed in here, mind you when I popped out earlier I did need my gloves (although not a coat) so I guess it is getting colder. Which bit are you in? I am way out East at the Edge of zone three.

I have a bit of an obsession with London temperature compared to other places, sometimes it keeps me warm but other times, like Christmas or Easter when businesses are shut I really feel the cold especially if I have to travel through the centre - or I could be imagining it)

Not my thread so possibly speaking out of turn, but it is probably safe to say you are more than welcome, we don't get many of the illustrious rosetted posters around here (and we'll take anyone, except trolls, we don't like them much)

NB still no heating on here, am still pretty comfortable (no heating on and sitting in PJ bottoms and vest top) so going to try to hold out until November if I can
