  • i darent turn it off in summer as when we have done then booted it back up blooming boiler breaks down everytime so we control it with thermostat all year.
  • I usually tell everyone to put more layers on if they're cold and get daggers from them :D

However, I have been putting the heating on for a bit this past week as we have a little baby now.
  • No way is my heating going on yet! It has been chilly lat few days and OH has `jokingly` mentioned it. He has no chance yet - September??? I however think he sneaks it on when im out.....hmmmmm!

Ours hasn't gone on yet, but I must admit I am counting the days until the 1st October as that is my cut-off-date. In our house, I am the one that most feels the cold, so no-one is complaining about it yet. But these evenings are getting chillier and chillier, and we've been watching TV under blankets and duvets. Still, I'm going to try to hold out as long as possible. :A
  • Could have done with the heating on this morning, it was FREEZIng in our house..... so we went food shopping to warm up! By the time we got back though, the sun had been blazing through the windows, and the patio door has been open for the rest of the day!

  • Ours isnt on yet, just half filled the oil tank, at for 325quid I got only 500ltrs oil, so to be honest I am holding out for as long as possible.

We have wood in the garden and two open fires so two roooms can get cosy relatively free - from dropped limbs and a bit effort, but its hard work and feels so indulgent having the fire on so much but at least two rooms are cosy (sih) and we hunker under blankets etc when watching movies as its just cosier!!

We were the same - we turned it on for the first time in the morning because I wanted to check it all worked OK before it got properly cold, but the afternoon was lovely and all the windows got opened.
  • :j :j One more day to go :j :j I've decided not to extend it by a few more days.

I can't wait. It's been a struggle to do without heating these past weeks, even allowing for that lapse a while back  At least I now know I can do once I put my mind to it.

I take my hat off to the rest of you who can manage without a while longer :T

I thought our last lot of oil was expensive - cost £525 for 1000 ltrs - and that was back in February and I've only just finished paying for it. I'm dreading getting the next lot.

Fortunately we've now got a couple of woodburning stoves in the 2 rooms which are used most and which we lit for the first time last night as it was really cold and damp. I really don't want to put the heating on and I'm holding out as long as I can. Fortunately dh doesn't seem to feel the cold, dd is always at her bf's and ds works away quite a bit. I'm more than happy to snuggle up under a duvet to watch tv (usually accompanied by 2 dogs and a cat).

My 2 boys 5 and 2 have only just put pyjama tops on for bed so obviously they're not cold, so ours won't be going on for a while yet.
