Not a chance before 1 October at the VERY earliest. I know OH is tempted when the evenings get cold but as long as he sits there in a T-shirt it won't go on. If we're both wrapped up, hot water bottled etc and its still cold then it'll go on but several degrees cooler than the thermostat was last year! Whats the optimum temp - 21deg?0

Since my last post, I've been reading the rest and hats off to those of you in the South East still with no heating on:T
I'm, shamefacedly but from tomorrow, going to turn the heating off and see if I can do without until 1 October, which isn't that far off really. I read the gas/lekky meters this evening as the bill is due at the end of this month and I'm off to Primark tomorrow to see what winter bits they have I can use.
Wish me luck on the 'no heating' front :cool:The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -

Aiming to not turn it on until 1st October or even longer, don't want them evil companies getting any more of my money than i can help!
Just spotted this thread again, my heating is still off though i am starting to get colder in the evenings but only 11 days until October and i might give in then but will avoid if can!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I've managed to avoid having the heating on since about March! Thankfully I live in quite a warm property anyway as I'm top floor, and have a flat through the wall. The common stair is carpetted and each flat as a small entrance vestibule which acts as a buffer for any cold air which would otherwise get through. I insulated the roof myself so I put the best in I could..........................thankfully it seems to be enough to get by.
I've recently added some more bedding (although I can't for the life of me find my hot water bottle!) and this has made a huge difference to how warm the bedroom is.
Despite being right on the sea front looking out to the Forth, it's not so bad yet and hopefully I can last another 6 weeks or so without the need for the heaters to go on!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
I'm holding out for as long as possible. In the evenings I put a fleese blanket over me. Look like a granny but I'm warm and its cheap.;)2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm in the South East and we have decided not to use the heating AT ALL this winter. It's an old and badly insulated house and gets very cold. But if we are all in we can huddle in one room to keep warm.
The worst is that I work at home and I FREEZE in the day time. I never turn the heating on when I'm the only one in - it's impossible just to heat one room, it's the whole leaky house or nothing. So I'm used to working in full thermal gear including balaclava and gloves.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
It's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold! But I will resist for as long as I can. At least until November, but definitely gonna need to get some warmer clothes out of the wardrobe! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr0

Hi All,
I live in an upstairs flat and my downstairs neighbours have had their heating on this week! My living room is toasty - I'm wearing a t-shirt!
Is this cheating or just plain lucky!
Happy Friday!
