I work 6 days a week... my mum always told me if I worked hard I could have what ever I desired, well mum you never predicted the gas prices going up so high did you huh... ::::shiver::::0

I am still holding out as well. I light 6 tea-lights in the morning, put them in the lounge and close the door. By the time I am ready to go in there, it is nice and cosy.0

I have held out on the heating although I would love nothing more than to switch it on and be all toasty and warm, next Thursday is pay day and I will definately be putting some money on the meter!!!
If I am cold I put on the oscilating halogen heater in the lounge, heats it up well if you shut the doors and curtains!0 -
Last night I had football training for 1.5hrs, then had a bath when i got in. Recovering on the sofa in only a pair of (clean) shorts, last thing I wanted was the OH saying it was chilly and putting the heating on!
The trouble comes when the other person in the house want's to put the heating on according to 'when they feel chilly' - which is pretty much all the time, not exactly the most scientific of controls..."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
yes i have had it on a couple of times briefly over the last couple of weeks - but haven't told OH - I'm hoping the 4yr old doesn't tell on me...:shhh:0

not yet - I lived in a horrible house with no central heating for a year and since then my resistance to the cold has been much better. However, with two little hamster fluffballs who can go into hibernation and die if it gets too cold, I won't be letting them suffer. I fear it might be soon, as some of the clothes are taking a week to dry and I don't want to have to go to work in the nuddy... Still, I have a holiday in a caravan to get through first - if anything's gonna be cold, it'll be that!Surveys nerd :wave:0

I've not put mine on yet, I'm holding out for as long as possible. I turned my boiler off when I got the last gas bill so don't have hot water either! (I have an electric shower though so I still get a warm wash :-)) I'm aiming for a gas bill with no units used - it's due next month so I only have 3 weeks to hold out for.
I work at home and am sitting here with a vest on, a jumper, a cardigan, jogging bottoms, 2 pairs of socks, a scarf and a hot water bottle on my lap. I may look ridiculous but I'm toasty warm!
Anyway, I wanted to ask: I want a heater for the room I work in, as I don't want to put the heating on for the whole house while I'm working. Does anyone have any opinions on what would be the most cost efficient? I was thinking of either one of those gas heaters where you change the bottles, an electric fan thing, or an electric radiator.
Thanks!
Potentially you may be able to claim some tax back on this, as it is where you work...... I have no idea if I am right, but I am sure one of the SE people here would be able to help.... Hypno or Seaxwyn are a good place to start!

I have to admit i put the heating on for an hour a few nights ago. I was under my duvet on the sofa and still cold! :rotfl:
But it seems to have warmed up a bit here so im hoping to hold out as long as possible before it goes on for the winter. It doesnt usually go on til the end of october for me, but i will try and last longer - i have no choice thanks to the increase in prices!:rolleyes:Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
My heating (well, what suffices for it anyway) is still off. Not that I wouldn't love it on - I'm always cold - but I can't afford to have it on unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't have central heating, I have night storage heaters (there are 4 of them but only 2 work) which cost a bomb. I also use oil radiators when it's really cold (and I make sure I sit right next to them) as they are slightly cheaper than convector heaters to run. Even so, in the winter I get through about £35-£40 electric a week - the majority of that being on my heating.
Still, my landlord fitted double glazing at the beginning of the year so hopefully I'll not lose so much heat through the crappy sash windows I used to have. Hopefully.:T Declared bankrupt 12/09/08 at 2.17pm!:T

No heating on here yet, and it won't go on until October at the earliest. In fairness, we do have really thick walls which helps keep the house warm.
