I'm sat here in my jammies and a cardie and I'm fine!! but then I am sat on my feet so they aren't cold.

I've got a pair of fake uggs (£4 from primark) that I slip on and patter around the house in in the mornings when it's freezing! Also I've started putting off getting changed into my office clothes until i'm fed, washed, made up with my hair done. and I soon as I get home I'm straight out of my work clothes and into something snuggely. I'm trying really hard this year so mum and dad don't feel forced to put the heating on.

  • It has been a lovely day here in the Midlands and set to be suny and 17-18 degrees Friday and Sat. So we wont need to have nay heating on. In fact I have still got most of the windows open. I hope it stays like this.

Have had it on a couple of times recently as I really felt the chill when I get up for work at 5.45am. But the good thing is I dont put the heating on like I used to. Instead of putting all the radiators on will just have the gas fire on for very short while if need be.

When Ive seen sales in outdoor wear shops Ive bought cheep fleece sweaters to wear. At the mo Im wearing a fleece sweater with just a t shirt underneath but have a fleece rug around me. Got thick bed socks on my feet. Will try not to have the heating on till end of October.

I'm trying to leave it as long as possible. I've bought a big fleecy throw from Primark for £2 and have been wrapping up in that in the mornings and evenings. I'm going to get DH one too, DS already has his own blanket but seems happy pottering generally nudie (he's 3 and potty training:D) I might have to put it on for a while in the mornings as DS and I are up at 6am

I have still been having the patio doors open into the evenings and our bedroom window is still open a bit all day and night.

Crikey all this talk of heating makes me glad I live in the south east.
we've not had to put any heating on at all, although we do think our (nw build) flat has a damp problem, any ideas for getting rid of that?!

We've only got 4 electric heaters in the whole flat (plus a heated towel rail) and out of all of them its the towel rail that chucks out the most heat!
OH and I are desperate to control our fuel bills, we've been lucky-ish so far over the summer etc but i guess this is only set to rise now.
if we can last till at least october i'd be happy....

This might be better on one of the other boards but if it is a flat, do you think the problem is condensation? Trying to improve the ventilation might help. And (ironically) it might help if you keep the heating more even - we had damp on an outside wall in a bedroom with no heater, but we put a heater in and that seems (fingers crossed) to have solved the problem.
  • I had to put the heating on yesterday morning to dry a pair of jeans, it was only for 20 mins or so i thought. Got back home 10hrs later to a baking house, i forgot to turn it off.

    I was not happy!!!

whats wrong with you people I havent even got a duvet in the lounge for the evenings yet! lol

No heating on here until november at least, although I do find I'm having to shut the patio doors occassionally cos its a bit chilly but I'm still mostly wearing t-shirts.

We are lucky for some things in the south I guess and being in a terrace with elderly neighbours I can feel when they put their heating on.

This weather is lovely so much better than the sweaty cant move its too hot summer heat, the sun is shining and we can get out and do stuff to keep warm.

Been a lovely day here today (for a change). So far we've not had to put heating on, but we are starting to feel the cold early on a morning and evening. We're holding off till nov hopefully, just layering up and lighting candles for the extra bit of warmth.
