Yes Kathie1101, that's the Redruth store. The supervisors there seem to have a special 'coupon radar', since they seem to rush over to ensure I'm not trying to diddle them with 'dodgy coupons' . Quite frankly it's got embarrassing :o using even magazine coupons in the Redruth branch, they're a bit over-zealous with their attitude really.

I like the Extra store at Pool best, since they still seem to accept internet coupons as well as the regular ones from magazines.

Don't take it personally- its the job: retail, I used to work on the shop floor, did so for years, it is one of the most dull jobs in the world, yet if you take your eye off the ball...all hell breaks loose!, so anything to while away the time whilst keeping you occupied is fair game! (If you were to talk to them, you would get a similar over-zeolous result from most of them). Its not you, its the job, atleast thats been mine and my collegues experiences over the years!

I understand completely what you are saying jenniewb, I have a shop myself and at times I wonder how I manage to stay awake! However, today I was served by a very rude 20-something male who actually gave me such a 'black look', ROLLED his eyes and SIGHED loudly when I politely asked if he would accept some coupons! Completely out of character for me, I actually reported him to his supervisor. I can appreciate that it's not the most stimulating or exciting job in the world, but to be so rude is inexcusable. If I treated my customers that way, I would be out of business in a heartbeat.
  • Hi all My first post on here...I use coupons and usually they are accepted. My rule is not to be greedy and use too many in one go, mybe this is why my coupons are usually accepted. I have just been to asda colchester and there is a sign saying they will no longer accept coupons unless you buy the product and this will take affect from 3rd november (boo hoo) Is this sign in any other asda stores? Not sure if i should shop in another asda store or i may just shop at tesco from now on.......

I don't often shop at Asda, but I have read that Asda are stopping coupon use unless you buy the product - there is a thread about it here -http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1201049

I use my coupons regularly at my local Waitrose. Only other store in town is Sainsburys who only take if you buy the product.
Although Waitrose take coupons, the SAs differ on what they will accept and even the supervisors give different information if asked but I never argue as any money off is worth having. I feel that as Waitrose give the concession to allow you to use vouchers without buying the product it is a bonus. I just try again at the next visit and try to go through the SAs that I know take the coupons without any problem.
    Long may it continue.

Told by older lady in ASDA somewhere in Cornwall that from the 1st of NOV. they wouldn't accept coupons if you hadn't purchased the product AND you had to hand in any coupons you wish to use before you shopping was scanned

Told by lady in ASDA Merseyside that she could only accept 5 coupons

Have been using the Dolce Gusto coupons from the ASDA magazine lots & lots without buying the product or buy 1 and hand in 2 coupons :D

So do your shopping somewhere else that accepts them?
  • Since reading about it on this website, I've been handing in one money off coupon when making any purchases in Tesco. I wasn't aware that you could hand in more than that. I also wasn't aware that Waitrose also accepted coupons for items that you don't buy. I shall try it out on my next visit there. My local Tesco won't accept coupons printed off from the internet either, but Sainsbury's do, which is good when it's actually something that you're going to buy anyway.
  • I visited a Tesco store today (Yeovil) and when I ask a csa about Internet coupons I was informed that this store would not accept ANY Internet (printed off) coupons whatsoever - even if you had purchased the product!

Apparently this was due to "people scanning off 100's of copies"

Is this Tesco policy? Or are store managers allowed discretion when it comes to accepting coupons?
