  • Hi Everyone,
Can i please know wht is Waitrose policy regarding accepting coupons fopr the products which you have not bought. Recently waitrose near me has started rejecting coupons. Today i went to waitrose and bought some stuff and handed over 2 coupons totalling 50 pence. The lady accepted it but when i took few more products and went to same lady she refused saying that you have bought producs which were reduced so she cannot accept coupons and that she has already accepted coupons from me . I could not say anything. Few of my vouchers are going to expire so wanted to use it b4 the end of month. I dont know diff sales assistant have diff policies. There is 1 SA who will nvr accept coupons.
    Thanks

    Hiya,
Waitrose coupon policy is different from store to store. Some will allow any amount of coupons and some will only allow a % or typically, just 3 coupons per transaction.

In any store that takes coupons, going back in again the same day is not to be recommended as some would see that as coupon abuse. Going to the same cashier again with more coupons is asking for trouble, don't do it. Visit with coupons no more than once a day if you are not buying the product (Tesco or Waitrose).

To find out your local store's policy, politely ask the Till Supervisor (the person who scampers around when the cashiers buzz for help). Never waste your time asking at the CS desk (Waitys or Tesco) as they usually have no clue about till policy, stangely enough...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Went to TESCO y'day. bought goods worth 20 GBP. i asked the SA wetehr he can take some coupons from me. I being honest said i did not. So he said then i could accept only 1 coupon then. I asked cant's u accept 10 percent of the valu's coupon as i had just 10p or 20p and 1 a pound coupon. But he clearly said no. Was quite upset. Used just 1 pound coupon and left the store. Some times i feel i should prefer self service counters.

I tried this for the first time today and was able to get £14 off a £32 shop. Some of the bits I had actually bought but also needed such as nappies, wipes, handwash etc but a lot of the vouchers were for things like baby food that I didn't buy so thanks for the heads up on this one, think I'm going to try a few vouchers each time I go in now.

My local Tesco has started allowing only 10% off with coupons. I think their tills are now set up to reject overspending. I tried to use a £1 coupon on an £8 bill and the cashier said it couln't be used so I finished up using a 20p and a 35p coupon. Last week the cashier told me to use small denomination coupons as more would go through ( I think she couldn't work out 10% of my bill actually!).
  • The self service tills in my local Tesco are a bit crap really as I had a Tesco specific MOC for Quorn and I bought Quorn and the MOC is in date but it wouldn't work; had to wait ages for the SA to put it through for me. *shrugs*
  • My Tesco has been perfectly fine with my vouchers. I regularly get 50-75% off my shopping (mainly because I do small shops), and haven't been challenged once.

Although I have yet to use any internet vouchers due to a broken printer.

Do you mind me asking where you're getting your coupons from, if not from the internet?

I can only find small ones in magazines and stuff.

    Much appreciated.
  • I never knew this worked and kinda scared to try it but i will if it defo works. So if i had a voucher for £5 off dog food when you spend £20 at tesco voucher, i go to tesco and buy £20 of food and not a single dog item, i could still use the £5? Also wouldnt the cashier say something since their wasnt dog food in my shopping? Thanks
