OS daily thread - Monday 8th Sept

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
oooh, I've never done this starting the thread thing before
Good morning everyone
Hope you are all well. Hugs for those that need them
Happy birthday for yesterday moliere
Sammy - hug for you and your DH
Hester - How was the Christening?
Well, a dark - er - I'd say start to the day here, but I've been at work all night again. I wouldn't mind but it's so cold in here
Dr Jeckyll has dumped a massive amount of work on me, which is horrible of him three weeks before my thesis is due in. I've had a crack at it, but it's going to take ages
I'm less than 1/4 of the way through and I haven't moved from this seat in 10 hrs. I can't actually bend my kness because they hurt.
Other than that all is well, OH flew from Germany to Heathrow then out to the US this morning and arrived about 10 pm (our time). He's got skype installed now so I can chat to him, which is nice. He enjoyed his reunion, which is good.
Didn't do much OS stuff over the weekend due to my body clock being a bit screwed up, but I did manage the laundry, watered the plants and made some bread. I can never be bothered to cook just for me
I did do some knitting because I thought it would help me switch off, but I kept dropping stiches because I was tired
Have a good day all,
cel x

Good morning Celyn. Thanks for the Happy Birthday for yesterday! I do hope you get a restful day today after all that work.
Well, I can't believe all the good wishes from you guys for my birthday yesterday, and for DS1's! It was like receiving a huge pile of cards through the letterbox! I did have a lovely day which was helped so much by it falling on a Sunday instead of being in the week when everyone is either at work or school. Having all the family round together was like Christmas afternoon - all relaxed and friendly. DGD loves my new DIL and they spent all afternoon talking about girly things. We played board games with DGS, and DS1 and DS2 sat in the dining room deep in conversation - I sat back and thought how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family! DS2 and DIL brought round their 'official' wedding album. They didn't have a professional photographer to keep costs down, but one of their friends made the most fantastic album I have ever seen - each photo was on a separate page and had been framed and embellished individually; I can't explain how beautiful it is. She must have spent hours and hours on it. She had also made a slide show that we watched on DS2's laptop of the wedding and the reception, set to music, and each slide had a different special effect. It actually brought a lump to my throat watching it. DS2 and DIL say they can't stop watching it! They are making us all a CD of the photos so I am going to treat myself to one of those digital photoframes.

Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
I can't tell what the weather is doing because it's still too dark outside.
Did anyone see the Joanna Lumley (or Joanna Lovely, as DH calls her!) progamme last night about here journey to see the Northern Lights? It was really good and, because she was the star, DH even stayed awake for it!
DH is taking most of the day off today because he worked all day Saturday and yesterday morning but he has some more quotes to do so he'll be working on those.
I have no idea what's for dinner tonight - I'll have to have a rummage in the freezer in a minute.
Anyway, have a great morning, everyone and I'll see you later.

Morning Celyn & Mioliere and those who cross or follow. :hello:
It's our wedding anniversary today, I can honestly say that the weather 17 years ago was much better than it is now. We had a warm sunny day, our wedding photo is on my facebook to prove it
I've just waved Mr Twit off on his travels, he starts at a new site today, he's over your way Donnie-Gal. I think he'll be home on Thursday.
I'm golfing today over Southport way, I'll wave at Joannasmum when I get there and I'll be eating out.
Mioliere, I meant to watch Joanna Lumley, I saw the Northern Lights 3 or 4 years ago at the October half term, they really were spectacular, quite humbling. Iceland was a lovely although expensive place to visit.
Celyn, you are burning the midnight oil, have you enquired about the other job?
Well, I think I'll go and put some chick peas into soak, I'm sure I can do something useful with them when I return home later.
Big hugs to all

Morning all :hello:
Happy anniversary Whatatwit!
I need to put chicken in SC before work today, I hope it works out ok.
Shower time..
Hugs to all that want or need one0 -
whatatwit - Happy wedding anniversary!
I've drafted my e-mail about the other job and asked OH to have a look at it - he said he'd get it back to me as soon as he can - I'll send when he's had a look (and removed my negativity as I'm sometimes too tenative with this sort of thing). It's difficult to word as I've known the guy in a professional capacity for four years, so feel a bit awkward being so formal:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
It's our wedding anniversary today, I can honestly say that the sex 17 years ago was much better than it is now. We were at it like rabbits, the smiles on our faces in our wedding photo is on my facebook to prove it
Morning everyone,
Moiliere Happy belated Birthday.
Whatawit Happy Anniversary.
I had a rather busy weekend. Went and got our chooks on Saturday. Here is a picture of them. Miss Polly is on the left & Bookie with the large deformed breasts is on the right. They laid on Sunday and today. :T Good girls right from the start.
DD stayed over on Saturday night and we went to the pub on the other island for tea. They were having a Thai night. It was delicious.
It was Father's Day yesterday so we had a family lunch. He got quite a bit of chocolate which I'm enjoying today.XDIL got called into work so we had to look after DGS last night. Today I've done baking this morning & washed etc. I decided to unpick my skirt  & the first dress :rolleyes:I made to fix them. Did I tell you that I'm a perfectionist  and it was just bugging me that they had faults.
I'm a lot happier with the skirt now. Just started on the dress.
Having DGS a lot this week. Wed, Thur & Fri nights so Ninny will be tired by the weekend. His hands are looking good. Well better sort out tea. I never feel like cooking tea if I've been baking a lot during the day. Hope you all have a lovely day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning folks.
Looks fairly nice out there so far. Yesterday was not bad. I managed to get off work early and cut the grass, so felt good about that.
Nice roast chicken dinner last night and then watched some carry on film. Felt though in the end as though I had wasted a good evening.
Off to work soon. Monday...... Hopefully I can get caught up this week and get back on track.
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all
Kathy, :bdaycake: happy birthday for yesterday
Busy week here leading up to DS wedding. I have taken another unit in the retail centre where I already have 3 units, so I now have to do 2 or 3 days a week thereWe're hoping that the credit crunch will mean that more people will buy from us instead of the big shops. I sell greetings cards for 25p each, so am selling lots of them. Mind you, the larger Hallmark ones are 50p and one woman put one back as it was too expensive
Chicken pie heated up in the Remoska later, and pasta for lunch. It feels really cool today, so will wrap up now and take Charlie out
Have a great day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Good Morning All
Happy Anniversary Whatatwit
Nice Chooks Aussie
No rain here in Essex at the moment :j , think it might be dry all day so will aim to empty the washng basket.
Office work mainly today and a small amount of ironing. Need to bake bread later for the kids packed lunches (this is going very well at the moment but need to try a different recipe - the one I made was too sweet & cakey).
Off to Mr T's later with my £5 voucher - must make sure I only spend £30.
Will post my menu plan on that thread later and stick to it all week. DS birthday at the end of the month so need to really watch the pennies.
Need to go and wake up DD.
Have a great day.

Am praying and hoping our dream can come alive........
Sorry can't concentrate to read the thread, but hugs all round. I'm like a cat on hot bricks!
