Next question....sorry, I know this isn't the parenting forum but what time do you put your 7 and a half year old or 9 year old to bed. I'm thinking I do it too early at 730 and 8 as they're often still awake an hour later. Thanks for your advice.
On a flying front....i've done sweet nothing apart from washing, working and drying clothes. Does cuddling the cat count. I'll catch up between clients tomorrow! xx
Hi Mudbath - my DD's 9 and I TRY to get her in bed for 830 on a school night. Of course it doesnt always happen and then sometimes when I go up to turn her lamp off she's still sat in bed playing with something. Or worse still like tonight I tell her to get ready for bed and she says Ive got to do my homework its got to be in tomorrow - WELL TOUGH, its bedtime, lets face it she's been talking about doing it all week and was watching the Simpsons DVD tonight for over 2 hours.
Actually what do you teachers think is more important, getting to bed at a reasonable time or finishing the homework as I have a constant battle with her to get it done on time.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Kaz what do you think about DS3's arm - would you expect a big swelling from falling? Only asking mum to mum not medical advise. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

kaz - I'd vote for bedtime. An overtired child will not be in a fit state for learning. I get a lot of them, and the ones who don't have breakfast. Sigh. She'll also get it in the neck at school for not doing the homework, and that may focus her mind on getting it done earlier in the evening! I used to make mine do it after their evening meal, which was about 6pm when they were in primary. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0

SS I can relate to that too - I dont need half a dozen appts to keep me focused on my cancer and muscle disease etc - and with the next breath it 'try to lead a normal life and dont let it rule your life' - I wish i didnt have to go to half my appts either - they just depress the hell out of you!!
Huge hugs for you both - you are amazing!!

Dusty - I was just reading your post and was going to reply. If he was swinging on the railings when he came out it cant be giving him too much gip. Personally as a parent I would check his range of movement (and as a hinge joint it should only move in one direction unless double jointed :rotfl: and compare it to the range in the good arm) look at his face as he moves it not the arm, that will give you an indication of any pain that he might be suffering. If he's comfortable see if he makes it through the night without waking and then like you say reassess in the morning.
Serena - thanks I'm all for the bedtime. I do tell her that I'll write a note explaining why she hasnt done it "Dear Mrs XXXXX I am afraid that R...... has not done her homework this week due to excessive episodes of the Simpsons, too much CBBC etc etc" - she usually declinesMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Thanks Kaz - I got him to put his palms to his shoulders and he could do that ok. I've given him some ibup and he is asleep - think I'll head up myself as I'm tired and have a lovely pile of books from the library.
See you all tomorrow. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Pigpen - smoke alarm... can I suggest that you improve your delegation skills?! I'm not going to forget about it

Evening all!
Just caught up today.
Froddington - positive thoughts your way
Mudbath - DD1 (9) has 8.00 (but not Weds & Thurs) when its later cos of Brownies and Drama Club. DS (6) has 7.30 - and DD2 (4) has 7 (but may be earlier if she's tired!)
Flying wise - have managed level 2 today. Had a quick trip to Mr T today on work business and picked up 3 nice bottles of rose marked on the shelf at £10 for 3. They scanned through the till at £12 and when I pointed out the label - I was given the double the difference back - so got 3 nice bottles of wine for £8 (usually £7 per bottle!!) Bring on the weekend!
DD2s teacher came up to me today with some concerns. Apparently she seems clumsy frequently tripping over - at carpet time she can't seem to sit down without sitting on someone (spatial problem) and has weak pencil control. Teacher wants to keep observing her but mentioned that she might ask the area SENCO to look at her when she's in next.
Am a bit worried now - she was only 4 at the end of July so is one of the youngest in Reception. I'll keep a diary of similar probs at home to see how she does.
Hugs to all who need - see you later!

Hi everyone
Just popped in to scan through what everyones up to.
Frod lots of prayers for you.
Greenbee Im sorry, its you guys-you've got me into a routine and now Im stuck without it. And Im also getting to be a bit of a night owl-it seems to be the best time for admin type stuff
Right now Im going to watch Home and away-I have two episodes to catch up and then Im going to finish up the kitchen so I can get the shelf done. Took the lid out of the fridge earlier and realised its too wide to stay solid so Ill have to make a gelatine round and glue it to the lid so it stays fixed. Will do the bow tommorow-see, now Im really glad I gave myself an extra day.
But I have to tell you the funniest story-DF did not want to eat my stew despite the fact that it smelled good as it had cabbage in it. Yes, DF, not DS. So he made himself a cheese sandwich after putting his stew back in the SC:rolleyes: Then, he left his bowl on the table (and the breadcrumbs on the counter) and went and say down in the lounge!!!(Whilst DS and I were still eating)
I called him back and asked what it was about...he said he wanted to sit down coz he was tired. I asked if he could at least have told me so and he said he just figured I would get it:mad: Then when I asked about the dishes he said he didnt know where to put them....Oh and then he was trying to log on to his SA bank account but couldnt find his details, I reached under the couch and pulled his last deposit slip out of the file:rotfl:
Mmmm, think Ill fly the toys off the lounge floor whilst I watch home and away.
Will see you all in the morning.0
