  • Evening all, just popped on quick to let you know DS won an award!

I am so proud of him, as he had a really rough beginning and nearly got thrown out of college (he was a bit of a sh*t when he first started and also because he's quite small he thinks he has to answer back when others push him - hence they push more and he [strike]gets in[/strike] got in lots of trouble - big chip or what!) anyway, long story short is he really turned it around and passed his city & guilds in carpentry and has just been presented with a 'most improved learner' highly commended award - Ooooh, I nearly blubbed as I watched him go up to get it, but couldn't embarrass him...:o

Anyway, here he is getting his award off Craig Phillips (the 1st big brother winner) - he's a really nice guy and nearly the same height as my DS :D It was so nice to have some good news for once...

Ahh Denisefowler - I thought as much when I was reading your post earlier, thats great. I would have been blubbing, and he looks so chuffed.

The heavy with milk in the morning and lighter later is perfectly natural.. I would sometimes express in the morning and feed it to baby in the evening.

Sleep feeding.. basically you stuff bubs in bed with you and you snore your head off and baby gorges himself all night long.. occasionally you may need to wake up and flip him over to the other side for more nosh. The hormone which determines milk production is produced in massive quantities between midnight and about 3am so suckling at this time will stimulate more to be produced.. If you didn't want to do that you could set an alarm and express at midnight and 2-3am.. just for 15-20 minutes .. anything would help.

Have you got some of the growth charts for BF babies? If he wasn't getting enough he would absolutely not be sleeping through the night.

    http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/growthcharts.html

My son was 3lb 10 at birth and 10lb at 6 months.

Thank you so much for the above information, I will have a look into the BF charts and speak to a breast feeding counseller rather than the health visitor about it aswell. I will try and feed him today after midnight. I don't think I would feel comfortable sleepfeeding him for fear of suffocating him! My son was 6lb 3 at birth and now ways 10lb 11 at 16weeks.

Thank you to everyone else aswell who has given me hugs, and advice.

Right gonna post my list for tomorrow, got lots to do as I didn't do anything today.

Wrote above list and then forgot to post it . . . duh!!

Since then I've showered, put the next load of washing through and put a hook up in the laundry to collect bathroom cloths. When there is enough of them I soak and wash them.

Off to do another HHC . . .

  • Just caught up...

Flybabybunting - I don't know about the percentiles and stuff, but if he is eating and sleeping well - he is well. I was pathetically skinny when I was a kid - i used to wear 2 pairs of thick socks to school to make my legs look fatter and the other kids wouldn't let me on one of the trampolines because it was a woven type and they said I would fall through the holes! (I can laugh now) anyway, reason being, my mum worried sick, I had complan in addition to my main meals unlike everyone else who used them instead of a main meal, but nothing, I ate like a horse and just didn't put anything on - in the end my mum took me to a doctor who said don't worry unless she stops eating, simple as that. When I finally left school at 17 I suddenly grew taller, fatter and finally got boobs - when your baby is ready, he will fill out - everyone is different and these stupid charts scare the pants off most people. I know they are there to catch the ones that need it, but look at the big picture to eh! (don't mean to upset anyone here and I know all HV's are not the same, but it can be so upsetting for some people)... sorry, rant over...

jjeff - hope you and yours are feeling better soon

Mudbath - I'm glad you have sorted it with your DS - I don't think they're lazy or anything, they just have better things to think of at that age eh! and what a lovely story of achievement - it really made me smile,

Pigpen - glad college was OK, sorry you're tired though...

SarahShattered - glad you got over the appointment in the end and hope your OH gave you a hug when he got home to make up

Froddington -Hugs and best wishes for you and your dad tomorrow

Boddy - why did you get wacked by a client?????

See you all tomorrow night, have work tomorrow morning... happy flying...
