Morning Soappie, only us nutters up at this hour then... really didn't want to when the alarm went off at 5.30am this morning....
Yes, I'm very proud and he has been grinning like a cheshire cat since he got it. It's not so much coz he got the award, but how he got it, after nearly being thrown out - his tutors were brilliant there (much more grown up in college and they don't wear any of this nonsence they get at school). He's all up for showing that he can carry on with it at the moment - see how long that lasts(hope so, but you know kids, their minds tend to change pretty quick...)
Thanks to everyone else too for your good wishes, much appreciated.
DeniseNZ - you've done brilliant with your list - nearly all done - well done you!
Off to work at 10am this morning - was going back to bed now but have some paperwork I really need to get done and DS up soon for school - all go in thehousehold at the moment - anyone for :coffee: ?

Next question....sorry, I know this isn't the parenting forum but what time do you put your 7 and a half year old or 9 year old to bed. I'm thinking I do it too early at 730 and 8 as they're often still awake an hour later. Thanks for your advice.
Morning
I know this is a late reply but here W who is 5 and a half goes to bed at 7.30 and A who is 8 and a half is in bed for 8 on school nights. At the weekend it is not that much later and they will take themselves off to bed if they are tired. Sometimes I put them in bed earlier if they are niggly/tired and then they read books for a little while.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -

DD2s teacher came up to me today with some concerns. Apparently she seems clumsy frequently tripping over - at carpet time she can't seem to sit down without sitting on someone (spatial problem) and has weak pencil control. Teacher wants to keep observing her but mentioned that she might ask the area SENCO to look at her when she's in next.
Am a bit worried now - she was only 4 at the end of July so is one of the youngest in Reception. I'll keep a diary of similar probs at home to see how she does.
This sounds scarily similar to conversations I had with W's teachers! I know exactly how you feel. We have had referrals to the school Dr service and onward referral to an OT for assessment. Apparently he does have more mobile joints and might find it difficult holding a pencil hence his lack of interest in writing. I think there is also the 'boy' thing ie they are not bothered at 4/5 in writing. The upshot of all our appts is that he is going to have some TA support in the classroom to help with his concentration as much as anything. If he is not interested in something he just does not want to take part, BUT if he does like something then he will stick with it for hours. It is very easy not to worry and believe me it has added stress to my life that I could have done without. W is my baby and so long as he is happy and well behaved I am trying not to worry too much about it all. He has had more than enough to deal with in his short life and I think losing Daddy would have a pretty damning effct on anyone.
Sorry didn't mean to ramble/rant on just wanted you to know you are not alone
Right Mum's birthday today, work for me and then meal out tonight so better get my stakes on and get organised.
Have a good day everyone.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
