    Evening all

Just a quick in and out (oooh er Mrs!). I've not long been in from work.

I note the world didn't end today. But speculate whether it might end once they do the opposing paths..... all they did was turn the thing on today :rotfl:

Saw more geese flying south today (two different locations, 20 miles apart and I was heading north) so an indian summer is not boding well.

Those with children and concerns - big hugs ... my two were real scrawny things when they were babes - always underweight - but that's just them. They're thriving now.

Right, need to go sort out some food. I'm seriously pooped from a long long day

    Happy IVGLDSW Day!

Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart
Woman's Day, so please send this message to someone you
think fits this description . Please do not send it back
to me as I have already received it from a Very Good
Looking, Damn Smart Woman! And remember this motto to
live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with
the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways,
chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly
used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a
    ride!'

    Have a wonderful day !

    To the Girls !!

  • Mudbath I have no children and not a teacher as you probably have guessed so not really qualified for this but this is my 2p worth -if its like you say daydreaming and maybe being extra careful about his writing what about exolaining to him what the teacher said and warning him that thats what might happen (loss of playtime) and then trying to get him to do a 'HHC' type thing at home to help him speed up and concentrate - maybe set him a piece to write and tell him he has 15 mins or whatever and if completed within that time he gets.... choccie bisc or something along those lines IYSWIM

like i say I am not in a position to comment so I might be speaking through a hole in my head and feel free to totally ignore and I wont mind !!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for all your hugs, wishes and good advice.
True babies can't read but the parents do and then worry. See I wasn't really worried until I had taken him, and what did they do before scales were invented! So feeling much better now.
I have decided to mix feed, but will have to experiment when I feel is the best time to give him the bottle. I gave him some this evening and he wolfed down 5oz and went soundly off to sleep - not even a whimper.
I am eating and drinking plenty but not near resting enough, and I did find that by the end of the day my milk supply was low and sometimes he would latch on for hours before he nodded off, but in the morning I'm really heavy with milk and have a good supply most of the day.
I won't wake him for a night feed, but I have heard about people sleep feeding. What's that mean? I will ask the health visitor next week as she is coming over for a home visit to see how we're getting on.
    So thanks again everbody.
Anyways - didn't get any flying done at all, so will have to add todays list to tomorrows. But I have put some washing on, and now have to:
Go and sort out the cupboard where all the plastic, bowls, boxes and cups were kept. As it was in such a mess and I had to pull everything out to find the steriliser, bottles, bottle warmer etc... The contents of which is on the kitchen floor. It needed doing anyway.
Clear the top of the tumble dryer as it is a huge hot spot at the moment. Thinking about putting all the baby bottles, steriliser etc there - as all this stuff takes up so much space.
DS1 doesn't want his fishfingers, chips and beans so I had them instead. I'm not going to fuss - we had a late lunch.
DH called at 6.15 to say he was leaving work - Wayhay - as he has been coming in at stupid o'clock lately.
Anyways - best go and do the above, also need to tidy living room and conservatory, mostly of toys as DS1 nursery teacher and assistant are coming over at 10am tomorrow for a visit and to collect some forms. Did any of you guys have home visits just before your children started nursery? I thought it was a bit strange - but they said it was to improve parent/teacher relations and to encourage parent involvement.
Will catch up with everyone later. XxX
Housework only gets noticed when it's not done.
My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.
Can never keep up with the thread - otherwise I'll never get anything done! But hugs to All :grouphug:
    XxX
  • Denise well done to your son - you will be a very proud Mum - will be keeping everything crossed for the award!!
G&B what a d**khead! well done for standing your ground - how do these people get a licence????
flybabybunting - cant help - no babies here but I know the others will give great advice - but please dont be hard on yourself I am sure if there was a big problem they would have said and if LO was hungry I amsure he would be the first to let you know!!!!!!

Michelle terrible 2s is it!!!! souns like you have a right little handful there!!!
serena hope you enjoyed your gardening - you looked after your dad really well - must have been a hard day but you coped really really well

Lots of you sound really tired after your work so take a little time to yourself.
Great amount of flying, taxiing, counselling, shopping, childminding, cakemaking, studying and general superwomaning been done again today - well done all of you.

Me - well I suppose today was my treat from yesterday - I left home at 8.20 (very very early for me!!) and took a bus for an hour to meet up with a friend and then we went another 40mins by car to take an elderly friend that we both worked with out for a birthday lunch(89 years old) - she moved into a home in june and we havent been able to see her until now - she used to live near my friend so it was easy for us to get together but not so easy now - anyway she was thrilled to see us and we had a nice lunch- left her about 2.30 and I eventually got home about 5!!
I am pooped!!! havent done the bedroom but will catch it when its the spare room as i dont have one of them!

Valli - thanks for your comments. I do believe they're expecting him to do more because he's capable of it. I think if he misses one or two playtimes he'll soon have a rethink. If his teacher can't do this i'm happy to have him bring the work home to do. I reckon he'll bring it home one night and then realise it's probably best to do at school.

Tooti - thanks for what you've said. I've sat him down and told him he'll have to do a bit more as his teachers expects it of him. I asked him how I could help him do more and he's decided he wants to do little challenges at home like you've suggested. He loves his cousin in USA so i've said he needs to write a five minutes email to him and we'll work at getting it longer. He can write it and then i'll type it for him if he wants. His reward will be to play a board game or do some baking. He's now made a list of all the people he can write to. He wrote the list pretty quickly too. Just shows that he can do it!!!

Thanks again for your comments. Things were put in perspective tonight. I went to my local tesco and a mum and dad were in tears at the door. I asked them if they were ok and they told me their son, aged 12, had just pushed himself up the ramp on his own in his wheelchair for the first time. They were so happy. Kind of brings you back to reality! xx
