Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Ds2s clinic appointment went as expected, no change on this meds so they're giving him 6 weeks off it then try something else. I am starting to wonder if any of these wonder drugs to help reduce bed wetting actually work.

We have the desmomelts.. 2 a night and have made a minor difference.. we have had 4 dry nights in the last month.. She has tablets during the day as well.. but I forgot what they are and can't be faffed to get up and look... I am SO lazy. When is DS 8?? Mine is 8 in December.

Polkadot - you're getting through so much flying nowadays you're scaring me! Well done.

Toots - glad you had a great day out, it sounds like it was worth the journey

Mudbath - he's a boy! They do what they need to do, and if the teacher hasn't made him realise that he needs to do more, then he won't be doing. My little brother carried on like this until just before his A levels when he decided that he wanted to be a doctor so had better pull his finger out... it worked :D and he's now a GP (and apparently pretty good at it, particularly if you aren't a relative ;) )

Lil_me - probably TMI for everyone on here... but I was a bed wetter until about 10ish. There was no medication offered, but lots of investigations (including a pyelogram, which I understand now was NOT a great idea!) and a moisture-sensitive alarm on the bed which I could sleep through (no one else in the house could :D ). And then I stopped... no logic, no explanation... so I think it's more about finding coping strategies and hoping that it will sort itself out in time.

Triker - something similar happened to me about 18 mnths ago. The car wasn't written off, but had to be collected (in snow...). They called, arrived, collected it... next day, I got a call to arrange for me to take it in. No paperwork... VERY worried (but then, how would anyone have known, and TBH, who would want to have nicked it in that state anyway - which I guess applies even more in your case!)

Pigpen - appart from exhausting, how was college? And how's you're smoke alarm doing ;)

I've been catching up on the day - lots of good advice given already on so many subjects. I think it was Dusty who commented on the wealth of expertise there is available here, and how willing people are to help!

I finished yesterday's efforts around 1am, but need to start going to bed earlier, as I'm practically nocturnal at the moment :rotfl: haven't been back to the gym since I was ill, and slept through the alarm this morning .... oops...

Have done well today, partly because I aired the room & stripped the bed before leaving for work, and partly because I was car sharing so had to leave work at a sensible time, so have vacuumed the mattress and floors, washed the floors, tested the alarms & got the new bedding out ready for bed time. I should get most of what needs doing done today... off to find some food then count my shoes :rotfl:

I have decided to mix feed, but will have to experiment when I feel is the best time to give him the bottle. I gave him some this evening and he wolfed down 5oz and went soundly off to sleep - not even a whimper.
I am eating and drinking plenty but not near resting enough, and I did find that by the end of the day my milk supply was low and sometimes he would latch on for hours before he nodded off, but in the morning I'm really heavy with milk and have a good supply most of the day.
I won't wake him for a night feed, but I have heard about people sleep feeding. What's that mean? I will ask the health visitor next week as she is coming over for a home visit to see how we're getting on.

The heavy with milk in the morning and lighter later is perfectly natural.. I would sometimes express in the morning and feed it to baby in the evening.

Sleep feeding.. basically you stuff bubs in bed with you and you snore your head off and baby gorges himself all night long.. occasionally you may need to wake up and flip him over to the other side for more nosh. The hormone which determines milk production is produced in massive quantities between midnight and about 3am so suckling at this time will stimulate more to be produced.. If you didn't want to do that you could set an alarm and express at midnight and 2-3am.. just for 15-20 minutes .. anything would help.

Have you got some of the growth charts for BF babies? If he wasn't getting enough he would absolutely not be sleeping through the night.

My son was 3lb 10 at birth and 10lb at 6 months.

SarahShattered Big hugs hun its not nice, but please don’t consider it to be so because your DD is different from the other “normal” kids as you say. I have cerebral palsy-and as a child I never learned to swim as my legs were always in casts or calipers and I wanted to play netball instead of going to OT,but now Im older all those apps have benefited me so much and I am so thankful I had a mum who stuck it out with me. I have a child who’s manners are perfect compared to kids raised by my “normal” peers and a partner who wants to be at home to love me at the end of the day rather than hide away from me at work.
What Im trying to say is that Im a lot more normal now than those kids grew up to be.
And your DD will love you a hundred fold more when shes really grown up enough to understand.
    .

Thanks for that honey, when I said "I think it's just that I have to go for apps that I don't have to with my "normal" children. IYSWIM?" what I meant really was, that with my other children, I stayed well away from clinics, they make me crazy, that's what I meant about not going to apps with my "normal" children. To me they're all "normal"- it's the health professionals that don't see her has "normal".

I don't have any issues about DD3's disabilities, she is who she is, and I think she's incredible. She knocks everyone's expectations off the scale. I love her so so much, she's bl**dy brilliant. But, given the choice I wouldn't go near a baby clinic, or child development centre etc etc. I do it obviously, whatever she needs, or will help her I'm going to do it. But the real issue is that if she didn't have a disability I wouldn't be going to these appointments.

It's like they're saying... 'just in case you'd forgotten... your daughter is disabled, here's half a dozen appointments just to keep your mind nice and focussed on it,' I don't need to think about her 'differences' and these appointments just make me think about them.

Does that make more sense? I was, and am always down in the dumps after going to see the paediatrician/ psychologist/whoever whoever. I just hate going! :p

I hope that doesn't feel like I've jumped down your throat.... that's really not my intention at all, I just would to think anyone thought I didn't think my girl was "normal" ;)

    Huge hugs to you ((((((hugs))))))

Next question....sorry, I know this isn't the parenting forum but what time do you put your 7 and a half year old or 9 year old to bed. I'm thinking I do it too early at 730 and 8 as they're often still awake an hour later. Thanks for your advice.

On a flying front....i've done sweet nothing apart from washing, working and drying clothes. Does cuddling the cat count. I'll catch up between clients tomorrow! xx
