What do you think of this one Donnie?
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=1GB+Dell+DIMENSION+1100+B110+2400+3000+RAM+Memory
I don't know how to link like all did:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -
First of all it's 1GB as opposed to the 512MB you suggested that you would need and secondly, it's more expensive than my suggestion.
So, I'm not sure why the question.
But if you need an answer...No I would not buy it, as it could turn out to be the less compatible High Density memory.0 -
Donnie, the reason why I thought this would be good was
1. the larger memory
2. it's £19.24p all together
3. It specifically mentions my dell pc in it's advert whereas (as far as I could see) the other memory links I've been given don't.
I sure would hate to spend my hubby's money on memory to find out that it's not compatible. I'm trying to be VERY CAUTIOUS.
I'm not sure how much memory I need. To put it plainly - I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE.:rotfl:
I'm really relying on you guys to help me.:D If you think that 512mb memory is enough then that's what I'll get.:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -
All of my suggestions will work. 512 MB + 256 MB is good. 512 MB + 512 MB is better. 1 GB + 256 MB is even better and 1 GB + 1 GB is best.
I would go for 2 x 512 MB for your set up.0 -
Hi guys :hello:
Right, today I purchased the extra memory needed from funkygiraffe.co.uk 2 x 512 MB.
Can I just ask. When I put them in, do I take out the old memory or do I leave the old memory in plus put in the two new ones? It doesn't seem to be explained well in my Dell manual.
Also, I've got the pci card. Do I put it in now or wait and put it in at the same time that I'm upgrading the memory?:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -
Take old the old memory and slot in the new.
Put the PCI card in now, so that you can test it and get that out of the way.
Actually, I'm not really sure why the Dell manual suggests 'matched pairs', but I've stuck with their advice to be on the safe side.
Of course, 1.25 GB is better than 1 GB, but we will err on the side of compatibility. Anyway, 1 GB is ample for your system.0 -
The Dimension 3000 only has 2 slots, so the old memory has to come out0

Erm.... does your machine have a DVD writer or is it just a CD writer?
Also, you seem have a lot of space left on your C drive. Can you check again via My Computer and allow your cursor to hover over the 'C' letter or right click on the 'C' letter and select Properties.0 -
Hi Donnie
C Drive - free space 131 gb
total size 146 gb
DVD RW drive (D:)
Is that what you mean?:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -
Yes, that's good.0
