how old is your pc? The reason I ask is if your going to be working on Video files they take up massive amounts of hard drive space. Is the C drive the only drive you have (dont you have adrive thats not the CDROM drive?) I would hazzard a guess you wont get many minutes of film on your harddrive before you run into problems.
and with 256mb of ram the video editing software is going to run really poorly."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Unless your video is of Lord Of The Rings proportions then your hard drive space should be more than plenty. A bit more RAM wouldn't go amiss, though.0

dont forget he will have swap files ect on the hardrive, wont take much to fill whats left up with video images. Aint got my videos on here atm but a 1hour .avi is about 600mb if I remember correctly!!!"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!!
I suppose you could copy from DV tape to a DVD recorder if you had the correct leads for it."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Don't worry about space on the C drive, there is ample. Even uncompressed Digital Video takes up only 13GB per hour of video.
But 256 MB RAM is rather low for running XP and trying to do something as intensive as video processing.
You need one of these. They are easy to fit. Your computer should run a bit more smoothly once fitted.
It's worth doing regardless of whether you decide to go the DVD recorder route.0 -
omg I read that as Megabytes not Gigabytes (Sorry)!!!!!!"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Thanks guys.:T
I glanced through the manual that comes with my pc (after dusting it off:rotfl: ) and it says that it's best that I add memory as a 'kitted pair.' I kinda understand what it means. Because of that Donnie, I don't think I could use the one that you linked me to in Amazon as it would have to be 512mb x 2. I did some googling and Crucial (have you heard of them?) claim to understand all my DELL DIMENSION 3000 MEMORY NEEDS
What do you guys think?:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -
