I've been reading this thread over the past week or so with interest. We're just about to put our house on the market, despite many people saying we're crazy for selling in the current climate

Its time to move on but I'm dreading the thought of being 'for sale' for months and months and months.
Its a really lovely house, 5 bedrooms, plenty of space, reasonable sized garden but the drawback is we're on a main road with no parking (we have to park round the corner) so just hoping someone can see past that.....I'm busy decluttering and cleaning while we wait for the HIP to be completed.

Do you mind me asking where you are Kymie? IIRC you might be near me (Staffordshire) and as I'm thinking of going on the market soon, I would like to avoid your EA!

We are in Stoke. The reason we went with Reeds Rains was because at one point the in-laws were thinking of moving up here, and we got in touch with all the estate agents in the area and they were the only ones apart from one other (Your Move) who kept sending out details etc so we thought we would give them a try (Your Moves fees were really high and they were brutally honest with a 'I dont know if we will sell your property very quickly at all' making it sound like a lost cause!). I dont know if they have had a change in staff etc but there is just the manager and one other that I know of, so maybe they get bogged down with too much work  There have been occaisions that I havent been able to get through on the phone from 10am til 4.30pm, but yesterday at 4.55pm I got straight through. Its just my experience with them, and maybe I havent been pushy enough, but that is changing :rotfl:[/QUOTE]

I thought you were in Stoke - we are too! We bought our house from RR originally and remember the difficulties we had in getting through to them - funnily enough when I rang to arrange a valuation, I still had the same problem! I'm still very undecided about who to go with....never mind the all important asking price...

Just to be awkward, in the middle! 'Twixt Barnstaple and Exeter, to be a bit more precise. I used to live in that area many, many moons ago.

I believe you are south, towards the coast? All very nice though.;)

Yes, I'm in the South Hams so further south. Happy farming anyway! How many acres are you the soon-to-be-proud-owner of? Will we need to doff our hats as we pass? ;)

Only five acres, and it's not grand, though you should see the size of my barn!:rotfl:

I do remember living in Dorset as a 7 year old, and there people really did doff their hats to the Squire, but then, he owned the village. I didn't care about him, as he just seemed a silly old windbag, but I was scared of the vicar, so I always raised my school cap to him!

Had 1st viewing today. Not expecting an offer from this 1 as she has just sold a 4 bed detached in same area so not quite sure why she is looking at a 4 bed semi.

Neighbour problems? Reducing outgoings? Likes the area, obviously.

I'm currently renting a 4 bed detached close to where I sold a 4 bed semi and, although this one has greater kudos and would sell for more, having tried both, I'd say the one I sold was quieter, more private and better placed for available light & (when we have it) sunshine. It's also not subsiding on one corner!:rotfl:
