The EA has just left, am changing agents today, they advertise in different places, so hopefully I may reach a few different people.
Nightmare! Am Paying a lot more for this agent. Grrrrrrrrr.
Congratulations Debs, you did well there to get back what you paid. :j
Exchanging one day and completing the next must have been stressfull.

It’s still early days but our flat sale (a probate sale) seems to be going in the right direction. It’s been on for a week at £220k and has so far had 15 viewings and 2 offers, the highest of which is £205k. The underbidder is coming back today, and another half dozen viewings are lined up for tomorrow. The flat is sensibly priced (at the top of the market it might have fetched £240-250k but I doubt it would have passed the stamp duty threshold). With any luck we’ll have agreed a deal by Monday.

    Stagnation? What stagnation?

I used the most expensive agent out of the three I had do valuations. They were the only one truly enthused about the property despite being honest about the market. If you think they'll actually shift it, it's well worth the extra money. :)

DH did not get the job, and still no luck on the house sale, no viewings at all.
Getting another agent out to have a look, as fed up of not really having any viewings this year!!!!!!!
    Really fed up!

So sorry to hear your OH didn't get the job. :( Try not to worry too much - I'm sure he'll find something soon. Will keep sending you those positive vibes! ;)

And good luck with the new agent!
  • Hi Pawpurrs,

Hope your new agent does the trick, sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective and the market is moving now.

Sorry about hubby, it all seems to be happening at the same time. Will be sending you angel thoughts. If you can ask your angel for a parking spot (always works for me) you can ask for a house sale and a new job too!

This thread has been great for everyone trying to sell and buy and has kept us all going over the months.

So well done to you for starting it.

Not at all, in fact we requested it for the same day!

It means that there's no hanging about worrying in case something happens in between exchange and complete.

We were fortunate that no chain was involved either.

That's great news Debra; I wondered where you'd gone. Well done! You did well to only go back to a Spring 2006 figure, as I think most of us have settled on something between Summer 2004/5.

I envy you with your 'project,' but mine will come. I've learned to be patient now.

A fresh eye on the case through a new agent seems like a good idea. pawpurrs, even if they do cost more. Where I'm looking, there's a couple of agents who manage to reduce every property to mediocrity in their photos, and that's at best. According to the vendors, they haven't the advantage of being cheap either, just have something of a local duopoly.
  • Hi Dave,

We've never done a project before as we've always bought new but the location of our new home was the deciding factor and not the house!

When do you think you'll find/start you're project?

I'm looking forward to putting my own stamp on a place but it is daunting as we will be living here whilst the work is done. However the porject plan will come into play as we both do a lot of project work!

I was pleased we got the price we paid alot of the houses that were up for sale have sold in the last few weeks and some of these have been up for over a year. So hopefully the buyers are out there.

    Debra,
Just renting at the mo. We need about 3 acres minimum, a holiday let and somewhere to live ourselves. Not too hard to get that, but I think we'll go and rent in our search area to get better acquainted with it. So, maybe not buying until this time next year, but looking all the time!

    Well wonders never cease!
The agent has all of a sudden got a viewing now we are leaving :p
Thanks for all the well wishes, I am sure it will all work out in the end! We are now taking DH ex employer to tribunial as while he is on Gardening leave for redundancy they have employed someone else
They really have behaved terribly, and its hard not to take it personally when he worked so hard for them. There seems to be no Loyalty these days.
Hope some of you have some viewings this weekend, and lets hope some offers.
My viewer had to be convinced to come and see the house, so we shall see, its a holiday let apparently.
    Pawpurrs x ;)
