My 18 year old has just gone to Uni so will be difficult to buy for,but this summer she showed an interest in making her own earrings,so I have bought her a basic jewellery making kit and tools, which are all packaged seperately, and a book about making jewellary. I can get her some smellies and pretty undies but after that,I'm stumped! It seems so much harder to buy for them as they get older (and more expensive!) any ideas gratefully recieved!

Amazon have some REALLY cheap DVDs (including boxsets) the Scream boxset is only £7.98

Gill I loved your story and your words, You sound like a wonderful woman and I hope you have a great celebration this christmas x Your christmas box sounds so tasty I am jealous LOL

shevs and mum2one You just make the christmas spirit so much more in my heart.. it makes me feel like I want to go sing carols :D

RoxieW On the first post of this thread I have wrote a guide to understanding OC. Basically there are a few plans to choose from. Make your choice then select it from the drop down menu. From here you will be guided step by step through the weeks. A lady on the hamper thread was making a hamper for a relative who'd just had a loss to breast cancer. She was filling it with things that help support breast cancer and I thought it was a lovely idea. You can get pyjamas and toiletries and all sorts from Asda and Peacocks, Make-up and mirrors from Boots. HTH x

Still catching up with the last few pages of this thread - just wanted to send my thoughts to anyone having a Christmas without a loved one or anyone who has a sick relative - I lost my SIL 6 years ago in November in a car accident. It may sound silly but it brought my MIL and I closer together and we always include her in our Christmas plans now and try to make the day as happy as possible for her. (There was a time when I would try and avoid seeing her altogether but that's another story!)

    Love

Ah Gill, bless you, and ur lovely thoughts, so sorry about your SIL, I hope that Christmas brings families together, I know id be stuck without mine, we have our ups and downs, but thank god there here.
I know in one way christmas is hard to some extent for my parents as they lost their 1st daughter to cancer when she was 18 mths old, apparently they were told at the xmas time that she wouldnt live long, they lost her in the following March.
Very weird I was born 2 yrs 2 days to the date she passed away, and my dd was born 35yrs and 2 days after my sisters bday. When I had my last check up at the hospital 39weeks, they told me Id have my daughter on the fri (27th sept), but she held on in to the 29th..
As you can guess she is spolit rotten!!x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Thanks pinkladymel your so kind. I do love my coffee though.... I do fancy one of them pod coffee makers but I would have no room for it in my kitchen.

I always get loads of coffee stuff at christmas of friends and family, I ended up with 18 jars of fancy coffee last year :rotfl: and coffee chocolates, and coffee nick nacks...

Still had to buy coffee at the end of January though.

It's scary really when you write it down:eek: , sounds like I have a reall problem maybe I really should find the number for CDA (coffee Drinkers Annoymous):o

You know, I was thinking to myself today that I really don't know what I will do when christmas is over and we all stop posting here..

I agree with you about this I will miss everyone and all the great ideas, maybe we could start a Get ready for Christmas January Sales Thread or Organized Christmas 2009 ... Well you can never start to early

I love all the support that everyone gives and knowing if I have a problem I can come on here and get advise and kind words.

    Everyone is Great

come and join us on the money neutral christmas thread, a few of us on here are alrady on there too, basically what we do is work through the year(from jan 1st) doing surveys, earning vouchers, looking for bargains, ebaying, anything basically so that we don't spend actual cash on birthdays or christmas. For example this year I have been 100% money neutral for all the birthdays and for christmas I am about 50% neutral so far, but am still trying to ebay to make the rest of the cash back. We'll be starting it for 2009. Join us until we can start this up again next summer (or just keep this going but getting organised for easter/summer etc).

Can't lose good friends like you lot, you're what keeps me going...:santa2: :smileyhea
