I love this thread and want to join in but can someone help me with where to start? I'd like to get the house in gear - do I just write a list? Can someone tell me what section to start on on the website as there's so much on there I'm just totally lost!

If you want the list ready done just to fill out go to the organized Christmas website, Links on the very first post, loads of good ideas on the site too.

    Hi
Welcome to the thread, if you go to the 1st page, 1st post theres a link to the organised xmas website, you can print off different lists, such as freezer inventory, gift lists, cards list, dec planner, 6 week planner, and adjust them from there.
Its gives you a really good starting point.

My post (591), think its pg 29, I copied an amas countdown from one of the rip outs frm a magazine, that might also give you a few ideas.

We all help each other out, moral support, suggestions, everyone is really nica + friendly, I thinkof them as friends that I have not had chance to meet yet xx

Is 'holiday home spruce up' what I should be reading?? Thanks guys - I love Xmas and really want to make this year special for my 4 and 5 year old boys as we're expecting a new addition February so I really want a special 'just us' xmas for them. :)

Also, i want to make a special hamper for my auntie (surrogate mum really) who has breast cancer. Any suggestions? I've heard that skin can be too sensitive for normal smellies due to chemo?

Awwww mum2 one arent you just the loveliest person:kisses3:

But it's true I think of everyone on here as friends that I have yet to meet. Everyone is so lovely and friendly and everybody is made so welcome when they join the thread it really is nice.

RoxieW if you stuck for where to start, and lost with OC you could always try it like this. Write a list of every room in your house and what needs to be done i.e. Kitchen, clear out cupboards, clean cupboards, clear out fridge freezer, clean fridge freezer etc etc. Then decide if you are going to do up stairs or down stairs first, then pick which room you want to start with first and take it from there. Every little helps in the run up to christmas xxxxx

Glad you are feeling better mariaandtheimps! Sounds like you are now very well organised. I agree with what others have said - I would never get a loan or put Christmas on a credit card - I would just feel so lousy - I know people who have done that and New Year is just such a depressing time for them.

Sarah - your post had so many good ideas which proves that you don't have to spend a lot to make it a special time.

Well, yesterday I visited a little shopping centre which is near to us. It's attached to a distillery and the main shop (I forget what it's called) had all their Christmas decorations out for sale - lovely to look at but they are so expensive!! My daughters had a great time counting Christmas trees! They've also got a big Baxters shop there (the soup people!) so I bought some Cranberry and caramelised red onion chutney for my Christmas box - yummy! So in my box now are two bottles of white wine, some festive chocolate animals and the chutney. At least it's a start! :T

Still catching up with the last few pages of this thread - just wanted to send my thoughts to anyone having a Christmas without a loved one or anyone who has a sick relative - I lost my SIL 6 years ago in November in a car accident. It may sound silly but it brought my MIL and I closer together and we always include her in our Christmas plans now and try to make the day as happy as possible for her. (There was a time when I would try and avoid seeing her altogether but that's another story!)

    Love

This is such a lovely, good natured and giving thread-with the real spirit of Christmas flowing through it! Has really cheered me up reading back through several pages.
I wrapped a load of things I got from argos sale during the summer hols and had a little book I was doing all my Christmas planning in.I had written a tiny number on every pressie to identify it and then in the book to stop my oldest boy spoiling everyones' surprises.

Guess who can't find her planning book? I have searched high and low and it was really getting me down. So last night,I decided it would be quicker to undo the end of each one and find out what it was, resealing after, than keep looking for the book! It took me over an hour, but I'm back on track now! I have all but 1 of my youngests' pressies-although I get loads of stocking fillers every year from sept onwards (although this year I started in July due to the great posts on here re the Argos sale!)I always get 1 or 2 of the 'special'most wanted things off their lists nearer the great day. My oldest 2 are harder though. I have just ordered a hand-held electronic chess game for my oldest boy (he has wanted one for ages) which was only £15 from Amazon-his dad has the same model and says it's really good-but other than that he will only want games for his wii and psp which are so very expensve it leaves little for stocking fillers.
My 18 year old has just gone to Uni so will be difficult to buy for,but this summer she showed an interest in making her own earrings,so I have bought her a basic jewellery making kit and tools, which are all packaged seperately, and a book about making jewellary. I can get her some smellies and pretty undies but after that,I'm stumped! It seems so much harder to buy for them as they get older (and more expensive!) any ideas gratefully recieved!

ETS-my daughter is keep-fit mad. When I was in Asda yesterday they had a thigh exersisor thingy reduced to £2 so I got her one of those. She will think it was really expensive although he knows my penchant for bargains!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
