pinkladymel wrote: »If there is anyone who knows the true value of christmas, from a non-religious celebration point of view, I would say you can rely on me. When I was little my mom and dad used to work long hours and from family past (I wont go into it) I was raised in a very poor family. I remember my favouritest toy I ever received was a dolly. I am pretty sure it was a poundshop jobby but I loved her because I had never had anything really before. Now that I am older I realise that because we had no money we did a lot of special things and we was so close as a family. I remember one month there was no money left and we was all doing a treasure hunt to find money around the house (like pennies down the sofa) so mom could buy some bread to feed us.
Now I am 25 and I have grown with one big flaw which is too soft a heart but I would say for a family with nothing I didn't do too bad. My excitement.. my absolute thrill is to find bargains and make something from nothing. I LOVE to get freebies and cheap things and just make things for charity and spread the love to those that have nothing.
When people talk about ice skating, going for walks in the park, running about shopping with kids.. I can't do any of those. My husband is in a wheelchair and we always end up moving ten steps away from each other to get by anywhere.
But I love my family, I am greatful for everything I have and despite the fact that christmas is one of the hardest times economically for a family, it holds my happiest moments. That is why everyone I know calls me mrs christmas
what an amazing post - like roxie it brough tears to my eyes. you have a wonderful way with words, mrs christmasxxxx

I should have an extra reason to celebrate thix xmas.........no I have not joined the baby boom.
My next dr neighbour finally got a court eviction, he has to be out by fri, but whether he goes quietly is another thing, apparently the baliffs are on standyby for 2 weeks time. I and my family have had hell on earth for over 20 mths, and what we have had to endur is no bodys business, theres meant to be a court case asking for a custodial sentence against him.
But I have to say thank you to a lot of people on here, as without knowing it, you lot have kept me sane and I have indirectly been able to share what a "normal life is", espically the ladies from the following threads, organised xmas thread and money neutral thread.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
great news for you mum2one!!
It is my worst nightmare moving into a house with horrendous neighbours. we dont speak to our current one but *mostly* touch wood he isn't abusive and doesn't damage our property (much) so I do really feel for you
Glad he's getting booted out !
OH and I are having our usual Saturday night in, but decided the xmas dvds, board games and mince pies are coming out as well(as well as X factor!) can't wait!
Has anyone tried Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel? I tried it today and love it, but its SOOO expensive. Might ask for one for xmas off the in-laws if they ask (they usually do)

Mel are you a proffesional photographer? If not you should be, that pic looked amazing and the one of your son looked like it could of come out of clothes catalogue. They are so cute.
Just been catching up on the post and everyone is writting such lovely things. This thread has really kept me going with getting my bum in gear in time for christmas and not just that the general moral support and help everyone gives in massive amounts has been fantastic too.
I so want that living room, I think I will print it off and blow it up to a huge size and wallpaper my living room with it. Dont know how BF will feel about it though.
Hi Sarah, glad to see you back on the thread! Sorry to hear that you have all been poorly.
Beki & Inkedkitten, I think you two have been egging people on too. I am dying to put my christmas tree up and that Mrs Mel Christmas has got hers up I really really really want it up, but I dont have a tree yet. Going hunting for it this weekend xxxxxxxxxxx0 -
hi everyone,
some great piccies on here at the mo.
pinkladymel-your kids look superb, looks real natural and innocent. Was thinking the same as shevs- if you not a photographer you should take it up your pics are all great. What camera do you use.?
roxiew-my dd was the same as your son. school services improved when she moved up to secondary school but still not perfect. In this region we have something called' gifted and talented youth' it picks up on real bright kids and offers extra help. they get occassional extra tution in maths, science, english and do conferences with other kids from nearby schools, theres also a website where they can talk to other'gifted' kids do projects etc but dd at school so not got the address. Still its only the tip of the iceberg.
jamtart- call me thick if you like but im new to all this online chat lark- whats all this spam business? how do you know what they are ? Also chanel my total fave, love coco, coco mademoiselle and 19 and 5 , im an addict . I only get them when they are pressies though too expensive for me. i keep dropping hints to scrooge Mc hubby for xmas but i might as well throw bricks at him for the notice hes taking!!!! He not too good with gifts, his family never gave much and he naturally doesnt really 'GET' it and what the fuss is about bless him. On the plus side he is so grateful for anything he is given not matter what it is.
jetty- think i live with scrooge.... my dh says he sympathises with him, everything so expensive etc. Honestly he hates shopping, spending too much, crowds , hassle etc. keep telling him this year we are more organised. He does love the family get togethers etc .
shevs- you and i think the same all the time, i think something and the nest minute you have already typed it... great minds as they say....
welcome to all you new ladies, read and enjoy.
And forgot love the living room pic, cosy and relaxing.....sealed pot member no :0812011- £306.68 2012-£304.36 2013- £387.44 2014 - £441.43

I cant find my list from last week but I know I didnt finish but its hard to find best deals and prices for pressies when offers are changing weekly, so im going to plan my shopping around what deals are on instead.
I need new decs this year, im going for a chocolate and gold colour (in the lounge anyway) what colour lights do you all think I should have??Good enough club member number 140
