Mine isn't going on until 1st November, later if I can manage it and I am praying for a mild winter.
There is only me in the house and I don't feel the cold too much, thankfully,so I will just be putting extra layers of clothes on.0 -

(I've been happily married for 26 years and have always done my share of the household chores, btw!:D ) but IME it seems to be females who can't survive unless the temperature in the house is akin to the Australian Outback in Summer  . My wife complains if the internal temp gauge dips below 22c! I've bought her a HUGE 'throw' to snuggle under for the Winter as there's no way I'm paying any energy company a penny more than we really have to. Wish me luck...
I saw an old episode of QI on Dave a few weeks ago and I'm sure they said something about women feeling the cold more than men. Not sure if it is true or not (but if Stephen Fry says it...!)
I have OA and can't bear being cold, so we put the heating on for 3 hours last night, and we had already had it on for a bit a couple of weeks ago. I have often worn a lighter fleece all "summer" as it is and I am getting the really thick fleeces out this weekend.
Having dogs sleep on your feet is a great alternative to a hot water bottle because they stay warm all night and you don't have to get up to refill with hot water!Marsh Samphire0 -
The week before last I thought it was too hot, for the last couple of nights I toyed with the idea of switching the heating on, then HWB - rejected both on favour of a 30-second hot shower bnefore bed and this did the trick.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Just adding layers at the moment, did consider the sleeping bag last night whilst watching the tv (in the dark) - still on the summer duvet though in bed, but window staying shut. With three kids to buy for not sure wether cheaper to run the heating or buy a load more warmer jumpers. Maybe lots of dancing and jumping around will suffice for now!0

Am determined not to put the heating on...at all! Have invested in bed socks, thick clothes, vests, layers, jumpers, bed blankets, sofa blankets(!), extra duvets etc.
Am also going around the house and turning everything off at every opportunity!
I have an energy efficient radiator that I'm planning on using and moving around the house, but that's about it!
Mad, isn't it? A couple of years ago the heating would be on for a long period and no-one would think twice.0 -
A lady at work has had her heating on all summer, which had the rest of us gobsmacked!! I'm holding off as long as possible, although I think may need to buy some more chunky jumpers before too long
If I get really cold I can always invite my boyfriend round to keep me warm. My flat was really cold last year as no-one was living in the flat below, so fingers crossed the new people in there will have the heating on

You lot are mad, only just back into socks and long sleeves here. Still have summer duvets on although that will change this week. I'm in Bristol, so I assume you lot are further north.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Thanks Canucklehead, so I take it it's not something BG would do as part of their 3 star cover?

I have set the thermostat to 20 degrees and it is nice and toastie now, so I will see how I go on, will light a fire in a bit and then turn the heating off. Cannot believe I have put the heating on in September! Feels more like November here in Stoke today, lashing it down.Vile.
Another stokie here - and yes, I had the heating on Fri and Sat. I normally have the thermostat set to come on at 18 degrees, but I nudged it up to 20 for a couple of days - tho in my defence I had a knee op on Friday and can't get around to make drinks and keep warm). It must be warmer out today though, as the heating isn't on today, and I'm feeling warm enough atm.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
