Just put mine on for 20 mins to check all working ok but that was after I'd put clothes over each one to dry, have not intention of actually putting the CH on to heat the house until Nov.
All fired up ok but a couple were a bit cold at the bottom still and hadn't heated up to the same level as the others but they were the ones furthest away from the boiler.....if that means anythingToo hard for me, I've made a note and will leave it up to OH, if not looks like the man from BG will have to take a good look on his annual inspection.

Probably means the system needs bleeding. Find the bleed key (if not they're about 79p from a cheap n cheerful shop that does the cheapie tools). Fire up the system until it's good and hot (save for when you're cold, so you get the benefit). Start at beginning of system, checking each radiator by touch. When you get to the first cold one, get a flannel and slowly loosen the bleed nut. You should get a hiss from it. Do it up when it starts bubbling hot water, cos the air has been forced out. Go to the next radiator. Repeat. Continue until system has been done.
You may need to do it a couple of times over the next couple of months and if you suddenly hear a banshee howling in the boiler cupboard, it means the system needs to be topped up with a bit of water. There should be a flexible hose with a flat slot screw to do this.
Job done!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I hate being cold and have put it on for 30-40 mins three or four times over the summer. Have done settings on new programmer but wont put it on 'auto' for a while yet - I hope.0

Not on here yet, but I am blimming freezing! I've got my thickest fleece on, so my top is toasty but my feet (in socks and trainers) are frozen. I need to look for some thicker socks, I think.0

Don't you just love global warming? For the last 20 years had mine on for six months then off for six (mid April-mid October). Couldn't even switch off until mid-May this year, and I'd love to put it on again now, but its only September. Socks, duvets and fleeces for me too at the moment. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Im afraid I have had to give in and pop mine on. I have set the thermostat to 20 degrees and it is nice and toastie now, so I will see how I go on, will light a fire in a bit and then turn the heating off. Cannot believe I have put the heating on in September! Feels more like November here in Stoke today, lashing it down.Vile.

I know I'm going to be accused of male chauvinism here
(I've been happily married for 26 years and have always done my share of the household chores, btw!:D ) but IME it seems to be females who can't survive unless the temperature in the house is akin to the Australian Outback in Summer  . My wife complains if the internal temp gauge dips below 22c! I've bought her a HUGE 'throw' to snuggle under for the Winter as there's no way I'm paying any energy company a penny more than we really have to. Wish me luck...
