where do they stand on forged letters? do you think the OFT would be interested?

Good point! I also got a "letter" from Barclaycard which was obvioulsy from 1st Cretins since the return address on the back of the envelope was theirs!!

But how do then prove the letter was form them after you open it? They could say you have just used one of their envelopes. I suppose you need confirmation from Barclaycard (in my case) that they never sent the letter.

But good idea - if we all write to OFT saying the same thing...

in my case the "letter" was from Citi, i wrote to them asking if they had given first credit permision to use poor photcopies of their stationary, or if indeed thay had sold the debt on. as yet i have not recieved a reply.

I might pen a letter (proper one!) to Barclaycard and see if I get anything back.

My "letter" told me that we (B/C) are selling the debt to 1st Cretins and I should deal with them. The date they "sold" the debt..... 1/7/2005!! Honestly thats what was stated in the letter.

No banks in particular. They buy up/bid for too many sources of bad debts for any generalisation to be made.

just got a call on an old PAYG mobile from 1st credit, not had any letters from them or any of my creditors in relation to them so just told them i was not who they were looking for, so the nice lady apologised and hang up. such polite people, the OFT must have worried them. They wouldn't be calling me in relation to my wife's aledged debts would they? that is surely against the rules.

I sent a CCA request to 1st Cretins and heard nothing. Sent them the 12+2 days letter and have recieved the following from them today.

    Dear Sir / Madam,

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

Your letter has been passed to the appropriate department and they shall respond in due course.

    Yours faithfully,

    ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

    Anyone else had this?
