my wife recieved a letter this morning "introducing" 1st Credit to her. As yet we have not recieved anything from Citi other than the letter from 1st Credit maquerading as them.
They mention the DPA and say they are willing to send me details held, on receipt of £10 and sae. Not that that bothers me to much, it would be interesting to find out, but to be honest being an OAP on min state pension only, the £10 fee is a bit much. I will be sending the £1 fee though and requesting CCA info.

Thats exactly what I got as well (except 1st credit sending a letter 2 days previous on Barclaycard headed paper saying the debt had been assigned to 1st Crudit - can they legally do that?)
Sent my CCA request off last monday (2/2/09) which they signed for on 3/2/09 - heard nothing yet.0 -
CCCS told us 1st Credit are one of the nastier of the bunch so this sounds par for the course. Make that phone call to CCCS NOW if you haven't done so already, you will feel better for it. And let the threats come - if they took you to court, they will not gain any more from it, not if you are already making debt repayments through CCCS. It just shows how desperate banks and finance companies are now in these difficult times (don't you feel sorry for them - NOT!!)One life - your life - live it!0

Fortunatly they don't know our phone number so my wife has not been subjected to their venom. I've already phoned NDL and PP, and filled out online forms with CCCS. So am well prepared for anything they can throw at us, not at all worried about court either, even they cannot make you pay what you do not have. In fact I rekon if it went to court we would be better of, because they would have to settle on a figure instead of adding all these spurious charges on.0

Oh has just received a call from 1st credit but he is not in. He has a debt with Citi which is on a DMP, we received a letter yesterday saying that our agreement was being termanated but no note of the debt being re asigned to 1st credit.
OH will phone them when he gets in but I have told him to tell tham until we receive a deed of assignment then he is unable to discuss the matter with them as we have had no communication at all that they are dealing with it.
I am so looking forward to dealing with this bunch - NOT.February 2013 NSD - 40 -
Okay OH called them its not his citi acc it his MBNA. So he acted daft and told them he had no idea who they were. They said a letter had been sent so OH said not received it yet and should he wait until he had received it. The guy hung up!
Okay trying now not to panick the citi debt is alot smaller but MBNA is the biggest we have and getting worried.February 2013 NSD - 40 -

Hi there,
I posted a thread of my own but I may as well jump in here since I am now dealing with this company.
Basically my debt was bought by them. I had sent in my income/outgoings to Barclaycard to restructure payments and spoke to them twice regarding this. I called them yesterday after not hearing anything from them for 2 weeks to discover they had sold my debt to this lot.
I received a call from them today where they used their apparently normal tactics of threats, demanding full payment, giving me a week to come up with 50% of it via getting money from other sources, refusing to accept me sending in my income/outgoings.
However when I look at the rules and regulations it appears they have broken several. I have had no letter from either them or Barclaycard that my debt has been sold/bought, the threats on the phone about court, people turning up at the door, getting into more debt to pay them off (which was hinted at by saying other sources), refusal to even listen to a fair payment, oh yeah and calling on a premium rate number.
It could be an interesting ride from what I have been reading.0 -
i have been getting letters for 2 weeks off 1st credit saying i owe 1200 quid to lombard bank as far as i know i have never had any dealings with lombard bank ever in fact after getting in trouble with barclaycard 10 years ago i havnt had a loan or credit card since. now they have started ringing threatening court action but what do i do? my circumstances are im unemployed due to ill health i live in a dss bedsit & am reliant on benefits unfortunatley. after paying part rent council tax & utilites im only left with 40 pounds a month disposible income for food etc so they threatened to send the baliffs round and i dont even think i owe them money im getting worried now though i was given a car by my sister as i have to travel to hospital several times every week its only worth a couple of hundred quid but apart from my tv & video & books i dont have any possessions to seize. i dont know how they got my mobile number as only my family have it. i have looked on the internet & read horror story afte horror story. these people have got me scared & my health is suffering as a result. ve tried to get advice & have been told to just ignore the phonecalls but they wont stop the letters which are getting more threatening every time any ideas from anybody will be much appreciated0

They can't have what you haven't got. Look on CCCS website and give them a call tomorrow for advice and help. As far as how they got your mobile number is concerned, some firms have random dialling equipment that just dials any sequence of numbers till it hits on a real phone number. It is also possible that your phone number was previously issued to someone else and this person's details are on their files. If you have a contact address you can write a letter saying you do not acknowledge any debt to their company and challenging them to provide a copy of the original agreement, which I believe they have to by law. Somewhere on this site is a copy of the letter ( a CCA letter) that you need to send - try searching for CCA letter. Fight back and make them rue the day they messed with you.One life - your life - live it!0
