Sky subscription "credit crunch" offer

I tried the phone call route - no joy. They cancelled the subscription. Wasnt too bothered as saved £21 a month and at least have freeview in my area!
About two months later I get a 'valued ex customer' letter from them saying to ring a number. Now have Sky+ with 3 mixes (I think) for £19 per month. Sky+, free installation, £2 off per month and still got all the channels I used to actually watch.
If you can do without it for a while they will want you back at some time in the future! When I initially rung I only wanted free Sky+ installation which had been offered to new subscribers at the time anyway. Now Sky are down £2 a month because they cancelled me :rotfl:0 -
I've been reading this thread with interest - I've got Sky and had it for over a year as well as Sky talk and the mid broadband package with no discounts on anything. I still have my phone line with BT.
What's the best way to get the cost down? I've got a SkyPlus box my dad gave me as I only got normal Sky free in August 2007.
I wouldn't mind HD but I know that isn't going to drop the cost so I guess I'll stick with what I've got but I don't really want to go through with a cancellation as my TV aerial is rubbish so I can't do without it!0 -
I called on Tuesday and managed to get Sky + and installation for free when taking all 6 entertainment packs, very pleased with myself!!0

I called to cancel Sky. Have been on the £3 a month for 1 mix twice but missed the cut off date between them so was charged £17? for a month (used 2-3 days of this only) in between the £3 months. Was offered £7 for 1 mix for 3 months when the £3 deal ends. I took this as intend cancelling anyway & I'm in credit so will only pay £1-£2 for the first month of the £7.
Only got Sky as our reception here is so poor freeview is almost non-existant. Realised that apart from Lost starting soon on Sky I we tend to watch the free to air channels 90% of the time.
I emphasised the fact that we can't get the free broadband - only the £17.99 Broadband is available,
Had a good deal of £90 for a year when it started. Over 19months it will have cost £118 or thereabouts - cheaper & more channels than new aerial & freeview.
I must admit as newbies we've been shocked at just how many programs are repeats. Looking at the films - we've seen many of them. Is it really worth the prices lots of you are paying?
Looking forward to cancelling & maybe turning the TV off & talking once more.0 -
I am about to ring Sky. I will probably cancel our entire subscription (we have the tv/sports/film package) as husband was made redundant recently but can anyone tell me if we still be able to watch the 'freeview' channels via the Sky box?
Many thanks0 -
Just by way of addition to this thread of what SKY+ deals are possible by calling direct - my mother cancelled SKY over a year ago but I managed to get an offer to sign up again with free Sky+ box, £30 installation fee and £50 M&S vouchers for my introduction as an existing SKY customer.0

No offers for me
We have the TV with Sky+, Multi Room, Broadband, Sky Talk and the line rental. I went ahead and cancelled the Sports, Movies and Kids Channels, so all in all my total bill will be £45 a month. Better than the £80 we were paying
Only downside is that OH will have to watch the footie at his Dad's :rotfl:
So moneysaving all the same, even if I didn't get any offers.0
