Just spoken to a really friendly guy in the cancellations dept - original quote of £99 for the + box and £60 for set up. Have agreed on the better deal of £79 all in - £49 box and £30 set up.

Booked set up visit for week Sunday as needed a weekend visit due to working 9-5.

Im very happy with the deal - did not want to push for more discount, happy with the half price discount:T

Thanks for all the tel numbers/helpful hints.

Only downside is that OH will have to watch the footie at his Dad's
Hey! Don't knock it - I can see at least TWO positives in that statement! :)

  • I emailed Sky, indicating I wished to cancel my subscription.

    Use https://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyhelpcentre/contactus/kana

They then called me back (that way they paid for the phone call) and asked my why I wanted to cancel. I told them I was not willing to pay to watch 400 channels of rubbish, when Freesat could let me have most of them for free!

I paid £47.50 per month for everything but the sport (hate sport)

Freesat do not carry Sky1 or Living TV (which I love), so We negotiated, and I moved the Sky Variety pack + news = £17.50

They then gave me Sky Talk Unlimited for FREE for a year.

BT LIne rental £10.50 + approx £20 calls each month = Saving £30.50 + the £30 reduction in Sky = £60 per month saving!

I do have to pay for calls to mobiles (25% cheaper than BT), but I can call my Aunt in Austrailia for Free and my Great Aunt in France for Free

In a year, I'll re negotiate and see if I can get it for free again!!! :j

  • I called Sky to tell them I was moving and that I was considering Virgin. It took three calls to different people but in the end I got a home move free (supposedly £60 normally), free extra standard digibox (supposedly £49) for another room and 6 months multiroom sub at £5 instead of £10.

I'm quite happy with that to be honest.

  • First I called to cancel my premium subscriptions, and they gave me 20% off for six months.

Then when I called to tell them I was moving, the woman said there would be a £60 charge. I asked if she could do anything about that and she offered half price. I asked if she could do better and she laughed. She then said that since I had been a customer so long (about 5 years), I was enititled to one free move. And the engineer is coming out the day after I move in. I didn't have to threaten to cancel or anything.
  • see i can't believe they have the gall to try and 'move' you for £60. If they tried that with me I'd reply 'fine i'll cancel my account and set a new one up at my new address.. its no skin off my nose!'
  • I want to take up Sky HD+ latest offer but they insist on connection of phone line to the box. As the TV is a long way from the phone line the connection would be unsightly and I do not want it. Sky would go ahead but charge extra £25.00 and no M&S voucher. Is there a way round this?
    Any help appreciated.
By the way I am paying, on a special offer, just £4.99p month for all phone calls 01 and 02 and Broadband 24/7 with £8.99p month line rental to Toucan (soon to be Pipex) so Sky have nothing to offer me on their phone deal.

Your box only needs to be connected to the phone line at night.
The card in your box has about £50 on it, if you order pay per view events or movies the cost is deducted from your cards stored credit.
Sky telephone your box in the early hours to check your card and reload any used credit, it also confirms the box is at the address it is registered to.

Get something like the cable below and just plug it in before you go to bed.
