i have sky plus and also a basic sky box upstairs. i pay the multiroom plus the cost of the 6 mixes we subscribe to... i really cant afford to carry on paying what we are doing... nearly every month i am late paying the bill , so they restrict the channels til i do so its time to do something! do i have to pay for the sky plus facilities - i mean , im thinking of cancelling all the extra channels, and just having the basic "free" ones , as in bbc1,2 itv , etc etc...but i would like to keep the ability to pause & record - is this possible?
i just want to be sure what im asking for when i ring them! so badly need to save some money!
any help would be appreciated!0 -

"If you cancel your sub then the recording feature is disabled, AND any recordings of pay channels you have made become unavailable.
The free channels will still be available on the box, (but you wont be able to record them).
If you are desperate to keep the record facility on the free channels then you can pay Sky a tenner a month fee to keep it active."

Just to let you know the £3 for 3 months for 1 mix is still being offered. I was also offered 25% off my current sub.0

Your box only needs to be connected to the phone line at night.
The card in your box has about £50 on it, if you order pay per view events or movies the cost is deducted from your cards stored credit.
Sky telephone your box in the early hours to check your card and reload any used credit, it also confirms the box is at the address it is registered to.
Get something like the cable below and just plug it in before you go to bed.

We have had ours plugged in once in 4 years, when it was installed. Even the guy who installed said we don't need it plugged in.
You should only need to plug in for updates, or if anything goes wrong.26/09/2017 - Started comping again. Wins so far: 1!

If anyone is interested, I saw a letter yesterday from Sky offering the movies free for 3 months to those who already have the sports package. I'm sure they've done this before.English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0
