just phoned sky, have got rid of sports, now paying £22 for sky tv, free sky talk and sky connect broadband at reduced cost of £10 for 12 month, plus £10 for the second box, in all paying same amount as i am now but getting free calls and saving on my current bb package with orange.0

no probs, they change stuff from time to time
This was a cynical attempt to scupper the BBC/ITV's new freeview service that launched at around June time ish, typical Sky really, they rarely miss a trick !!!!
Do you mean freesat?
Freeview launched nearly 6 years ago
And they are mutually exclusive services0 -
can someone help me, I messaged earlier to say I had managed to in my opinion get a good deal, but we are still paying £10 per month for the second box, which we have only used as a freeview box for the last year or so (we cannot record on it but can still view all our channels in our package and pause etc). Should we still be paying this then or not? Please help!0

You're correct, i mean't FreeSat:o, they are mutually exclusive services but it should have been the first time that an equivalent satellite box to the Sky+ had been launched mainstream..... unfortunately i've seen no adverts for the BBC receiver/hard drive recorder, does anyone own one ???0 -

You're obviously paying for Multiroom (ie a second box in the house), as long as you're not tied into any 12month deal with them for this box then you can cancel at any time, you'll be £10/month better off but you'll only be able to watch basic channels on the 2nd box. If you want a greater selection of freeview channels then you either need a card that hasn't been cancelled pairing with your box or pay Sky £20 for a 'free view' card which will unscramble the likes of Channel 5 for you0 -
i cancelled sky a while ago, they have now offered me free sky&+ and box and 50 quid of m&s vouchers. its a good deal but i still have to sign up for 12 months and its 17 a month minimum. shame its so much per month0

I don't think there is a HD recorder on the market yet for Freesat
"Later this year" is the rumour, but has been for a while as far as I can see0 -

Yeh, it's a bit of a shaggy dog story really, loads of press releases and email lists to join but no actual boxes for the big launch, all a bit of a damp squib..... shame really, sky could do with some competition :cool:0
