Quick update - we've been keeping a diary for Environmental Health for just over a week - and have entries on most days. :( The only time they are quiet now is when they are not in the house!

So - last night we were woken up at 3am with the usual shouting, arguing, doors banging etc. I'd had enough - and called the police! I explained the situation to them, and they gave me a reference number that I can give to the landlord, should I need to prove the police turnout.

They arrived in 8 minutes, 2 cars, 4 officers - and the neighbours were making so much racket they didn't hear the police knocking!
They eventually opened the door, the police went in for a few minutes, then left. Then the racket started again for a few minutes - then stopped.
I was still awake at 5 though - and have to be up at 5.45!

If they kick up a racket tonight, I'll call the police out again! I don't really like doing that, but the community safety team at the council told me that's the thing to do - so I'm acting on advice!

Thanks to everyone for their help so far!

Did they give you that advice in writing? Ie to show the Police, it won't take long to use up their patience...

Also are you recording these disturbances on tape/video etc?

Dob 'em in to HMRC - I bet they're not declaring it!

The tax man would be interested if they are not declaring the income from their brothel or "massage parlour".

If they are awake making noise all night, then put the birdie song on repeat with speakers against the walls when you go to work, and they are trying to sleep.
    Been away for a while.
  • Grin and bear it.. they probably know they're going to be chucked out.. they go from place to place hoping to get somewhere that wont report their antics.
HMRC are the most likely to take quick action. The racist talk about the Landlord is uncalled for, and demeans the problem. Two racists don't make it right. What "village" is it? Not streatham, which has a bit of a rep for this?

  • I always thought prostitution was more secretive, why would punters make lots of noise in the street and draw attention to themselves? I would also have thought the girls would want to be more discrete also. I'm more incined to think these guys are boyfriends as it was said they stayed a few hours, don't girls prefer to get them in and get them out quick??

So many jokes, so little time...

Unfortunately, due to how vague the current observations/"evidence" is that is a possibility IMHO.

If you stood outside your house with a 18x or SLR long lens and just took a pic of each strange man going in with the camera timestamping, then you'd quickly realise if it's boyfriends or punters.

Oh no - it's definately not boyfriends! They are old and grubby, and too many of them to be 'going out', IYSWIKM. Plus the girls living there don't go outside with anyone, as they would if they were boyfriends - they are taken out and brought back by a couple of blokes that hang around there, which the police say is suspicious - as they said today it's not a normal way of getting to work!

Found out today that the occupants tried to send the police away when they visited the other night - saying they had been called out 'maliciously'! Luckily the community police still have the emails I sent them since March onwards - as they said I've suffered long enough.

We shall see what happens next - the landlord was meant to be giving them notice this week.

And about being 'discreet' - they have a complete disregard for anyone and anything, the 2 cars that park outside the house regularly are not taxed for example - one has an out of date disc and the other no disc at all!
