  • I know someone who lived nextdoor to a !!!!!house. Was rented to someone who got them in, possibly people-trafficking.

It's very hard to prove, when things are organised these people know exactly what to do and what not do to.

If the "pimp" starts to think that the police are on to him then he/she will soon clear off and become someone else's problem. That's what happened to my friend.

However, discrete brothels can keep going in residential areas for decades. Yours doesn't sound discrete at all.
  • Does it now seem that customers are coming to the house?

If they're prostitutes with rude pimps who slam doors and shout a lot, that's not really enough to do something about. However, customers coming and going at all hours may be.

Have you thought of photographing the customers? Focusing on the clients sometimes discourages them. But, it also gets you in trouble with the "minders."

...You could also set up one of those flasher light things - so every time a man walks into the house he'll think he's being photographed. ..

Not a bad idea pickledpink, but a slight twist would be a mis-aligned security spot light, so when one enters, the spot comes on drawing peoples eyes to them and their activity.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

I too would try HMRC - there was a brothel being run near to me, and it got closed down only when the owner passed the VAT threshold and tried to register the business with HMRC for VAT purposes - as "Chantal's Brothel"
  • I like the thought of a prostiute or pimp worrying about VAT thresholds :rotfl:

Thanks for making me giggle i1189

OP I just want to say that I really feel for you & I can't imagine the hell you are going through living next door to these people. I really hope it all gets sorted very, very quickly.

I do like the thought of a mis-aligned security light (much less likely to get hassle from the pimps than you would if you were pretending to take photos). I also like the idea of you playing really loud music duriong the day when you are at work and they are alseep (something like Enter Sandman by Metallica on repeat should do the trick!)

    Good luck with everything OP

he said he'd given them a verbal notice to quit on the 12 September, and would be putting it in writing on the 12th October, then they would have a further month to vacate the premises, and if they didn't move out then he would consult his solicitor.

Tenants have to be given at least 2 months written notice so he is talking rubbish. If he doesn't serve notice correctly then he will have to start again and serve another 2 months notice.
