wow Mum2one - that is truly impressive :j

Darent tell DD that or she'll be wanting you to adopt her- a pj day is her favourite thing at the week end if we're not going anywhere. Very MSE to as saves on washing - she changes clothes about 3 times a day

Umm I can't tell whether the prawn delivery thing is serious or a jjoke?? Am I being slow again? :(

Aww you are so sweet I just want to give you a hug sometimes :D

The prawn delivery is a 'front' to disguise me & confuse the xbf should he be sad enough to trawl through all MSE thread trying to hunt me down.

The new job is the one we discussed the other day ( your friend at uni was going to do it) that's going to earn me a bit more & get me fit & back into my size * jeans

so, dont worry you're not being slow; Moo came up with an idea I jus ran with it :rotfl:

    Morning all,

for the first time in years I didnt have to be up early to get paid - that happened yesterday although it wasnt anything to shout about  .

I was at waitrose :shhh: by 8.45 this morning & have to confess to spending over £50 in there :o although only £37 of that was on groceries- many of which was store cupboard stuff like peppercorns, flour & pasta etc. Ok ok, I know it costs more than tatco & I always say it ... but it's soooo nice in there; all the staff say good morning to you, just because you're in the shop - lucky to get a grunt from cashier at tatco.

Frankly i think it's a very fortunate thing to have one on Tristan da Cunha :D
Just in case anyone is wonderng about this place .... it's a tiny one of about 3 islands in the middle of the south Atlantic about half way between Montevideo & the Cape of Good Hope - good luck with trying to find it on a map - neither of my atlases show it  . It's an amazing place & anyone wanting to find out about it should have a read of the newspaper www.tristantimes.com it truly is an eye opener - the average wage is about £20 a month but it's quiet & peaceful & zero chance of having a 3rd runway slapped across a pretty village  here.

right, need to get into my walking clothes & start the prawn deliveries,

    see you later

Aaargh! Can't quite believe I've reached the end...
Apologies - where are my manners: 'how do you do Lula?' I discovered your thread yesterday, whilst waiting (most of the day) for the boiler man to turn up and have time travelled through 6 months of truly inspirational stuff, whilst discovering all sorts of random/eclectic things like what the cccs is, what a Wave is (moo2moo) and what to do with sawn off logs. I did wonder at your location but now all is revealed. I have to admit that the xbf has worried me all along, but you seem more than able to cope magnificently. Hope you don't mind me hanging around and good luck with the prawns.
Mel (haven't mastered the smilies yet)

Oooh hello, how odd that you post just as I log on :D

welcome to The Quest - I really cant believe that you managed to wade through all those pages ( 3 cheers to boiler man ) & still find the motivation to post afterwards. Funny, but this morning I have been pondering whether I should perhaps lay this to rest... it's so full of stuff that probably really shouldnt be aired in public but hey ho that's just the kind of girl I am - 'think it -type it, & lets not bother about informing the brain first

I am utterly convinced now that i have dislocated both my legs & will never look the same since. While pondering on various things & making more hobnobs (imagine grossly overbloated smiley here :o ) I decided that bogger the rights & wrongs of the £50... I have 2 credit cards to pay off & that dosh is another weeks payment so :p . This decision meant I had to leg it to the post office to pay the cash in before 1pm so I threw caution to the winds & went out in baggy trackie bottoms, old cardigan, no make up  hair like a blind- bird's nest & the man deterrant glasses firmly in place. Got to the post office - fine saw no one, popped into co op to get the sugar I forgot yesterday thereby screwing up a NSD  & was on the home run :D ... then as we rounded the corner I heard the unmistakeable sounds of drills & saws coming from the garge & front garden of ... "He who I should have got together with ages ago if only I hadnt been so far up my own backside & too immature" :(:o  :o:( - I should point out that as I typed that the xbf was ringing but I ignored it :D

I've never mentioned "he who" before, mainly because I havent seen him for ages & therefore he no longer figures in my life apart from the odd wave if we pass. After the last time I completely eviscerated his feelings yet again :o & decided to have a fling with the now xbf he sensibly put me far behind him & found himself a presumably more adult companion & I believe is very happy ( although he hasnt moved in with her nor she with him ... ) A briefish explanation follows :

Many years ago we met when we were both recovering from our first disastrous relationships & our daughters were in the same class ( My DD1 - his only) It was great, we had fun, went out with kids & alone, he's very smart, very very funny - most quick witted man i've ever met, hard working & just a really nice guy. It never went further than a friendship because 1) I just didnt fancy him & 2) I was very immature & thought that this was all that counts . Over the years we kept in touch & consoled eachother as another disastrous relationship came to an end. He totally & utterly advised, cautioned & blatantly warned me against getting involved with DDs father & I full of youthful cockyness just assumed he was jealous & proceeded to get in deeper. He was right of course. When it all went disastrously wrong he was there again to soak up the tears & make me laugh at myself & we started heading towards something more... until our DD fell out , big time, viciously & very furiously as only 14 year olds can; mine was still reeling from losing a step father & gaining a baby sister & really really hating me. His was full of mischief & able to spot a weak point in a kid & exploit it to cause maximum humiliation. I wasnt strong enough mentally to overcome the differences & pull us all together so I withdrew & sought solace in totally unsuitable xbf  & he found himself a lovely lady.

He's matured into his 40s very nicely, the greying hair suits him, he's lost a lot of weight & looks trim & he's still improving his house & working hard & is still inspite of my emotionally slaughtering him, friendly.

That my dear DFW friends is the 'what goes around, comes around' karma which I often mention, in all it beautiful glory :( He has it all & is still gracious enough to give me the time of day without spite ... I looked like an overweight, unkempt chav & came home & cried at the beautiful irony of it all.

Nearly 15 years since I met him & I've achieved precisely 2 crappy low paid jobs, another fatherless child & a pile of debt . :o  :o  etc etc.

So, in view of all this I dont think I can bring myself to shut down the Quest, it's far more than just a journey towards debt freedom; it's the place where I reveal all my shameful thoughts & exploits, the place where hopefully I can finally grow up & find a meaningful place in the world without losing any more of my sanity  or dignity :rotfl: .

We travel onwards & I am so glad to have some company along the way, thanks to all for everything :A

Lifes never dull with you around Lula.

I have to confess I am impressed that you have both sanity and dignity I lost mine years ago. My boss would think there was something horrifically wrong if I didn't launch my way into the day late and running at full tilt with wet unruly hair dragging behind me two disheveled daughters, one clutching the obligatory hairbrush and the other a luke warm bowl of porridge. Cereals and car journeys are not a good combination. I abandoned make up decades ago, theres never enough time for that.

Theres nowt wrong with a woman who has the confidence to go out in public in tracky bottoms, as for PJs well the village shop keepers have eventually got used to us nipping in there in wellies and PJs. Lifes too short to worry about what other people think.

I am now back from my carwashing exploits - there wasnt a dishy fireman there at all (they were old, and ate too much bacon n egg so were rather podgy:rolleyes: ), there were, however, some jolly attractive ambulance guys instead but none of them were my type:rolleyes:

It might not be too late for you and your 'friend' it doesnt matter that you went out looking like an old bag lady, you were obviously meant to meet him. Maybe you should ask him out for a drink and see what happens?

When I met my ex, I wasnt wearing the best of clothes either and I was carrying a walking stick:eek: We split up years ago because I didnt want kids what he doesnt know is that I would have had his kids so now I have gone through my life without any at all. He took up with my once best friend and shortly afterwards married her (he invited me to the wedding expecting me to stand up in church and stop it but I decided that he made his bed so he should damn well lie in it). Since meeting on the bus, he has visited me once and exchanged rude texts - he sends rude texts to shock me but mine are even lewder:rotfl: I have no idea what will happen between us, I also have no idea if he is still married but I know that he has grown up kids. I am just enjoying the moment:D I was gobsmacked that he apologised for dumping me all those years ago but at least he has seen the light and seen the error of his ways:D
