makeup - thank you for yours & This book will change your life' is next on my list - old lady in front of me at library nabbed it first  :D

I've recently read The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho & really enjoyed that - written in a very interesting way with a surprise ending; I intend to read more of his books so will let you know as I work my way through them.

I've also just finished The Testament of Gideon Mack by James Robertson which I just couldnt put down & am still thinking abut now.

I'm a big fan of Joanne Harris & also Alexander McCall Smith too.

I will look up your other rec as haven't heard of it before.

I agree, Alexander McCall Smith is great, love No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and saw poster this evening for a new one in the series which I think is out in paperback :j

Hi makeup - re Paulo Coelho - think it depends how you take it... I just found it a good read but then am a bit shallow like that ;)

Hands off Jonny D - he's mine & John Cusack too in case you've got designs there as well ;)

    Oh this so tragic;

I'm writing now out of sheer & utter boredom ( suggest you all pop away for nice cup of tea & come back another day :o )

I have scoured gumtree, jobcentre & surreycc websites for jobs & was quite tempted by a willow cutting job but then realised it was miles away.

Yesterday was a NSD - ooh yaay  & although i was going to go to local co op this mroning to buy some salad for me & cakey desserty type thing for DD & Bessfriend I realised that actually it was quite unnecessary, so I made some chocolate krispie things - yum - & attempted again to make the ginger -supposedly- thins ,they are NOT thins, they are whacking great pebbles with the consistency of a soggy brick. Mary Berry may well be a fab baker & writer & many of her recipes are great but i can assure you that she has left some vital ingredient or method out of that particular recipe  . Oh well, it killed half an hour.

I am here awaiting with bated breath the delivery of both today's & tomorrows workload. This is the boss's latest moneysaving scheme; get the driver to do all wed & thurs collections on wed, then deliver all back on thurs thereby saving herself the princely sum of £20 by not having to pay the driver for going out on friday. Of course the driver is going to be about 3 hours later getting back to me so I now get to stay up really late in order to get both days work done in one am delighted > :j . Even better is the fact that this all happens on a wed - the day I love to have the kids here for the manic recorder/home/tea/brownies/home athon - woo yeh

I'm also delighted to hear that the cheaper than me worker who now has some of my customers  has co*ked up the orders for the last 2 weeks by deciding to mix & match the different customers :rotfl: serves the boss right :p

Still no word from leaflet man  I refuse to ring him in the vain hope that he's waiting for the start of the new month. I'm clinging on to the vaguely satisfying thought that at least if i never hear from him again i can spitefully recycle his leaflets ( not very angry or threatening but that's life as an ecowarrior :D )

No word from the xbf... if this boredom continues I'm a bit concerned I may miss him... have forgotten what the phone sounds like :D

It's cold, grey & dank so completely unmotivated to venture towards the garden or even the shed to change the tyre on bike & go for a ride.

Very odd as for the first time in years I'll have no work tomorrow as well as friday. I've always appreciated my fridays but now they're just going to seem superfluous ... will have to venture out in to the wild for a long walk I think.

Going to bother someone elses thread now .... if anything exciting happens I will be back to report in detail :D

    Boredom over now ;

    Strange but true :

The driver turned up at midday, which is the same time she has always got here  maybe the boss not so silly after all  .

I finally had the phone call from leaflet man :j & he has been round with my new satchel :D & map with all the roads I have to cover, nicely filled in with highlighter. Fortunately I am allowed to use my discretion as to which properties I deliver to as he thinks I'm an intelligent woman :rotfl: I told hi that i would start tomorrow & he was very pleased & said that if i have any issues then to contact him ... I assured him that my issues were both many & varied but he may not the right man to discuss these with  . My initital feelings about finally getting to start were relief, & gratitude that I found the job, was offered the job & can now start. I did keep my faith in him but my desperation was making it falter a bit.

I am elated really but since then somthing else has occurred which has completely put a downer on things. Had a call from xbf ..... no change there  but this time he told me that he's finally joined 'that money saving site with that tv presenter you were always going on about'

I actually felt sick. I asked him why & his reply was that he wanted to get close to me & check up on who I'm talking to :( . He then asked me if my username was **** as this person has posted on the credit card board & he knows I have the particular card that user was asking about. I really cant explain how I feel about this, it's just horrible & creepy. I told him i thought he was sick & he just doesnt get how creepy that is. Am I overreacting ? It's not about me saying stuff about him ( all of which is the truth) I dont like, it's just the thought of someone being that obsessed that they trawl through threads to find me :( I said that i just used the site for information & that I didnt post... but he may well remember seeing my user name from way back as I use it for other sites. He could be reading right now :(

I now feel that I should change my user name, & that moo isnt far wrong about a restraining order... but that doesnt include the internet does it ?

    any advice appreciated
    thanks

    Hey Lula

Firstly let me get the hurrahs out of the way - :j for the leaflet man showing up and an 'I told you so' award for the cheaper worker messing things up!

Now onto the main subject - you are not over-reacting at all. This is not normal behaviour! I find it very strange / creepy that he actually said it was to try and find you to see what you are posting about. I mean, surely if that was his intention he would make up some nonsense about finding bargains or something.....that would be the 'normal' thing to do.

As for changing user name, is he normally reasonably observant?? Do you think he would recognise and remember your user name?

Also is he the kind of person that has a good idea and quickly gets bored of it. I mean if he is likely to spend a short amount of time trying to work out who you are on here and then get fed up and get another brilliant idea instead then it may not be worth it.

However if he is likely to stick with his 'mission' then you may want to take action.

Are you able to screen your calls at all. Maybe if he doesn't make contact with you for a while he may back off a bit?

Do you have any mutual friends that you could get to talk to him?

Hmm, not sure I have best answer but he is sounding very creepy and if an xbf told me the same I would certainly feel the same as you do now.

Hmmm could you get one of the Mods on here to ban his IP?? If they won't do it til he breaks the rules then surely the second he posts anything on your threads that's a teeny bit hurtful you could get him chucked.

Or... tell him your username is AGBE567 and let him spend weeks trying to find your posts... preferably pick a real username on here that rarely posts.

Or... make a new username and post random spurious threads for him to monitor that have no relation to your real life.

    Some good ideas....

Lula, I don't often post on here, but I am subscribed and keep up with the 'goings on' and I have to say I think that is very weird. I don't have any advice, just wanted to send you a (((hugs)))

Hey Jakey :hello: course you can hon - all (apart from weirdo xbf's) welcom here :D

Makeup - hi & thanks for your in put & reassurance that I'm not the 'most unusual' one here :A & yes you were right about cheap workers too ( is that a crystal ball in your bag ;) ).

He's been with me when I've used this site before & has also seen me use a similar name on other sites so I was quite surprised that he asked if I was **** ... that probably answers your question about memory :rotfl: . I only acces internet from pc at home so all passwords & usernames are stored but I dont think he'd trawl through all names but if he was on the forum directory & I posted it would show up until the next post ( about half a second so quite a remote chance I suppose) & that's how he'd find me.

Like you say, it's the admittance that that was what he was doing that was creepy  . Probably best not to worry & frankly if he saw all the stuff he does writtend own & some of the reactions ( Moo2s especially:D) then he might shuffle off.

Honestly, the men I find just get weirder & weirder

Anyway I'm now on my 5th NSD in a row I think :j which is only slightly marred by DD coming home form Brownies with an invite to butlins for a a week end next January - cost £70 & transport not included  I'm assuming it's not the same week end as the 18-30's crowd :rotfl: so think I'll have to ok it.

Have counted out my leaflets for thie first run tomorrow & then I get asked if I'll do an extra customer tomorrow - 3 day week has stopped before it even started but should be worth it.

To any creepy stalkers out there " get a life" :p
